Lets assume you have a healthy major league baseball franchise, and the checkbook has room in it for a couple off season aquisitions.

How many years and how much would you pay this imaginary player?

He is 30 yrs old, plays CF and bats and throws left, leadoff hitter.

He has averaged 162 games played the past 4 seasons.

He scores around 95-100 runs per seson.

He steals 55-60 bases and get caught 20 times a year on avg.

He averages about 200 hits a season.

He averages a couple homers season.

He averages 45 RBI

He averages 5 outfield assist and a couple errors a season average arm, good CF.

What is this imaginary player worth?

Years and average salary? :think1:

a couple of HR a year is weak today, some old time player ? What outfielder doesn't hit 10 HR, or any position player, for that matter playing 162 games ?

$7.5 million next season, $8 million in 2008, $10 million each in 2009 and 2010, and $8.5 million in 2011.

I figured you were talking about Pierre, isn't 45 mil over 5 years what he got? My response was just a joke, the market is certainly inflated, baseball players these days certainly have it made.

You left out the most important stat. What is his career on-base percentage? That's the number than matters most for leadoff hitters.

I'd rather have Damon on my team, he can lead off, play center, and hit better.
