You are almost exclusively a straight bettor. You lose real big one day. Big is a relative term, so let's just say 3 dimes is real big to you.

So maybe you take a day off and maybe you don't and you go over what the causes were aside from a bad beat or two. Maybe you see a trend of too many favs, chasing, or whatever it might have been on that day or leading up to that day in particular. You make the necessary adjustments and you get serious and begin to grind again but since your bankroll has taken a pretty good hit, lets say you come back at $300 per game. This is really your comfort zone. So you don't overanalyze the games, start playing more dogs, etc. Again the amounts here mean nothing it's about the pattern only.

Three or four weeks later, by being cautious and smart and not second guessing yourself or overanalyzing, you have gone on a tremendously good tear and have made back your losses and maybe a bit more. But you have been winning real well including a few you shouldn't have won. You are now cocky and you realize how much you would now have if you hadn't dropped down to that $300 level nevermind that the $300 really is where you are comfortable and make your best decisions at.

So you decide to go for the big one cause your HOT your bankroll is as stuffed as the turkey and THIS is the game cause you've checked every possible angle and trend for a couple of hours, and for sure you have this one down. Time to score big. You do step out of your comfort zone however. Your just a little bit nervous cause you're out of that zone but so what you think. Maybe you figure the Bucs really do suck that bad and that Dallas are playing great now and will cover that 11 easily. Sadly you proceed back to the beginning of this post again the next day.

One minor thing I'm giving Thanks for today is that this scenario doesn't play out for me much anymore, except once in a great bourbon induced while.

Five or six years ago I chose Thanksgiving day, amid family and all the distractions, to pull this stunt. Possibly it was to impress friends and relatives. I had really been going good. It was a funky Lion's game and I was toasting my huge win till it got ugly almost quicker than I could gulp down my drink. You all remember that one I know. The shock of that ending absolutely ruined the day for everyone around me and I made a horses' ass out of myself.

Good Luck and a Happy Thanksgiving to all. Eat big and bet smart. Remember many of us are very fortunate and should be grateful to have plenty of distractions today. Don't ruin this special day for yourself and your loved ones. Ain't worth it.
