That is a horrible signing. The guy moves like a robot in the outfield.

He should be ok in Houston...that left field wall is about 10 feet behind the infield.

Good point.

I've never seen someone so lazy going for ground balls in the corner. (not including Barry Bonds and George Foster.)

weird signing, considering every American League team was looking for him to be strictly DH...and obviously no DH in the National League. I guess there are some concerns about his knees & overall conditioning breaking down.

Would imagine they coulve worked a deal w/ the Red Sox for Manny. Obviously, not a gold glove outfielder by any means...but played that short left in Fenway pretty effectively...and i'm sure the Sox wouldve been interested in a Burke/Lidge/Prospect deal. At least, thats what I was thinking.

Also, based on these latest signings...the baseball market has had an increase this off season.

Journey, the owner of the Astros DRAYTON MCLANE is one of the top 5 richest owners in ALL of sports based on figures from last year anyway. If he wants to spend more, then he has the cash

I understand your view point, but as an irritated Yankee fan...over spending the market, in order to fill a hole...does not always equal success. I would prefer to have my owner spend economically, and use the extra money he would've spent on overspending/luxury tax, on other needs as well.

In my opinion, Lee may put up huge numbers initially....but he's never hit more than 40 homers, nor has never eclipsed a .900 OPS...and will ultimately regret this contract down the line. And can very much make the point (based on age/conditioning) he may have peaked already.

The Astros also signed Woody Williams to a 2 yr deal...not a bad signing, imo. I bet they wish they couldve gotten a one year deal, but he's def. a solid #4 or #5.

But they have never played that game....if they were going to spend away they would have kept Beltran and just maybe won the 2005 WS....

He's probably so sick of not scoring runs he just said fvck it. :ohno:
