Went through my records to get a handle on how my hobby is doing. Started online betting ten years ago this month. My first book online was tvccasino. I have used several since. Bottom line is after ten years playing I have lost $319.20 including all fees paid out. I would love to see how much I have wagered in that time period, cause it would probably scare me (I'd bet into the six figure mark), but after the dust settled, I was hoping I was ahead but it has certainly been fun playing. I guess for a ten year hobby that has entertained me that this is a small price to pay.

Do you guys keep good records? Would love to hear long you have been doing this and your net results over that time. Any of you keep track of the gross dollars you have wagered over time. I bet for some of you that would be a huge dollar figure.

Before someone states the obvious. Yes, I admit I am one of those squares those books just love to have! The first step is admiting it. LOL

After all the ups and downs and all the blood, sweat and tears, to be down around $300 is WAAAAAY ahead in my eyes. Like you said where else you going to enjoy yourself that much for $300?

I know I am down over 10 years but I consider it an education that will, and is just starting to, pay off.

Thanks Iceman that is very kind of you to say. For me if I could be more disciplined with money management, I think I could be more successful doing this...but sometimes I like to chase. I get a good education on this on some days, but don't seem to pay attention.

If you are down 300 in ten years paying all that vig when lines were -110 accross the board there is no way you are one of those squares the books just love. Imagine if you were paying -105, you would be up huge.

Pinnacle only now. Past books Betcris, VIPsports, Intertops, Canbet, Bet365, MVPbets. In ten years I have never had a negative experience with any of these books. All were top notch in payouts.

I was first introduced to sports betting 4 years ago when I was working at a restaurant. The cooks would always read the paper to find the spreads, which I had no idea what they were talking about. I jokingly said to one of the cooks that I wanted to get into gambling, and he told me that it was a bad idea because he said he has lost about $100k doing it.

This thread made me go back and look through my old files. I signed up with sportsbook.com back in April 1998. Since then, I've bet (at six different books and exchanges) approximately $89,000. There were some gaps in my spreadsheets with lost floppy disks and such. In that time I am about $500 to the bad. The good news is that since I've been involved here at the rx, I'm up $545. My average wager is in the $20-$50 range. Thanks to everyone here at the rx for helping my work my way back to break even.

It is nice to go back and look at the past and see how this Industry has changed too. I keep yearly logs of funding and withdrawing from the books I used. When I first started it was credit card deposits, now in the last three years it has been Neteller. Also, there are certain books I did not do good at consistently. Fun to go back and evaluate!
