When the Bulls played their first game ever against Kentucky Wesleyan 11 yrs ago, I never thought I'd live long enough to see this.

Wow. I agree that I never thought the program would advance as quickly as it has. Yesterday's win was phenominal. To hold Slaton down like that, as well at that WVU team in Morgantown was huge. Grothe is really going to be something. With Julmiste, they never really were a true threat, imo. Grothe has been outstanding, and he will get better. I'm a die hard UL Card fan, so it's kinda of tough for me when those 2 play, simply because I've lived in the Tampa area for 17 years, and I root for them when they play anybody else. Fun to go to the games, too(last year's blowout of UL notwithstanding, lol) They haven't really drawn huge crowds yet overall, but the people that are there are loud and into the games. I'm sure the crowd size will continue to grow as this team improves in the future.

Great job by Leavitt. Hats off!

Hawkeye-- Believe there is a good possibility they may enter the season next year ranked in the TOP 25............lots of returning players coming back for this Bulls team next year, including their highly underrated freshman QB.

Heard comments on a few telecasts yesterday that Miami should look into hiring Jim Leavitt. Good Luck!!! Won't happen.

I guess they don't know "the head butting coach" as well as some of us down here do. It would take twelve massive linemen with crowbars made of gold to pry the Dixie Hollins H.S. [St. Pete] grad coach away from the Tampa-St. Pete area. Kids are going to want to play for this guy. His enthusiam and vision is contagious not to mention playing in Ray J. in a major market in a BCS conference. Bowden is finished in terms of competing for the best talent in the state. He is burnt toast. Miami is in a state of flux heading south quickly. Who would want to go to either of these schools right now? I may be still in shock and euphoria and overly optimistic, but USF may be competing soon if not already only with the Gators for the best Florida talent.

Leavitt will make this program a powerhouse for years to come. Three more years of Grothe and the Florida recruiting goldmine yet to be fully tapped. Look out Big East. Grothe will make us forget Marcus Blackwell I do believe. Easily the best freshman QB in the country.

Defense has always been the strong suit. Leavitt is first and formost a D coach and is a defensive genius. They've always tough from day one.... fast and hard hitting. J.R. Reid, Kenyatta Walker just to name a few that actually started playing when this was still Div 1.AA. And there is still the lure of getting to start much earlier than riding the planks with Urban for a few years.

A lot of us down here made a killing in the early years when this club started to play some Div 1 foes and started to pop up on the rotation here and there and was completely off the national radar with soft lines for a couple of years.

Facilities are second to none now. He will not leave....ever IMO. He's just that kind of a guy. Mark my words.

He birthed this baby and it is his future legacy in his home town. The guy could have left for more $$ many times already. He ain't going nowwhere and that is another recruiting plus.

It's a shame that USF doesn't get a lot of run here in the Tampa area. The signature win of their program happened on the same day as the Florida/FSU game, unfortunately. I was at their first game ever and, I must admit, I thought their goal to compete on the 1A level was a little crazy.

Hats off to Leavitt. The guy started with literally nothing and, as Fish says, could be a Top 25 team next year.

This might be overstating it a little. I have a hard time believing they will become a "power" due to facilities and the fact S.Fla is a commuter school.

It is not a big draw for a recruit to go to a college game to see a half filled Raymond James.

It might be overstating it a bit, but when you consider they are located in an attractive area, are getting quality recruits, are pulling off upsets over Louisville last year and West Virginia saturday, and will be going to another bowl game, I think USF certainly one of, if not the, fastest rising program in the nation. I don't expect the Bulls to compete with Ohio State, USC or Florida next season, but I would like the Bulls chances against Florida State and Miami.

RayJ will be filled Friday night as the #18 Bulls host WVU. Paterno could not be more incorrect here.

2 years ago it was at least 50/50. I will guess 60/40 this year. WVU fans and ALUM travel better than any other school in the East

BIG EAST FOOTBALL has come through the departure of BC, VT and Miami and is going strong. PROPS.

I still say less than 60% WVU fans.

Obviously talking football, but last i checked penn st. and georgia were considered east and the game easily be 75%+ psu/ga fans.

Not to mention a dozen teams east of the MISS. that would travel better than WVU. (especialliy to Tampa).

On a sidenote UCF is doing well to boot, just cracked Memphis hard after hanging with Texas at their new place, props to Mr. O'Leary as well.

my 60/40 was 60% USF 40% WVU

I would put WVU fans against anyone including those you listed as far as traveling, good or bad seasons. That is the reason they always get a better bowl than they should (that's also why they lost like 11 in a row until recently). Are you going to the game? I think you will be amazed at the amount of blue and gold. I may even break out my blue and yellow hair for this one.
