As a Red Sox hater, I've been waiting for this for years...it will go down as one of the worst decisions in recent Boston history. Ramirez is a first-ballot HOFamer and one of the top three hitters in baseball.
Any team should be willing to put up with any antics in exchange for what he provides with the stick. He's also become servicable in left field for Boston; no other OF plays the Monster better than he does.
He might take some games off, he might be lazy on the bases, etc. but he's unmatched in production, his teammates love him, and he can literally carry your offense for weeks at a time,
I'm thrilled that they're going to trade him...Ortiz and Co. are going to suffer big-time, ESPECIALLY Ortiz. Be prepared to see zero pitches to hit next season, Papi. Outstanding.
For all the attention and credit Ortiz gets, Ramirez has been far and away their most valuable hitter. The protection he provided Ortiz over the past few years is immeasurable...well, at least until he gets traded. Then Red Sox fans who have whined about ManRam for years will get a taste of life without probably the best hitter of our generation.
