You should read "Smart Money" By Michael Kronick. It will peak your interest even more! I just read it...its a true story about the computer groups.

He is not a regular poster recently, but posted fairly often a few years ago. He is the brother of a guy that I have done many team plays with.

Why haven't more people attempted to replicate what the "Computer Group" has done?

you have millions of dollars? There are other smaller syndicates out there.

What would you initially need millions of dollars for? I understand that the computer groups are putting millions into play...but in my opinion it's all relative (as you mentioned there are also smaller syndicates).

Do these syndicates actually pick 55+% winners year in and year out? If I had access to the plays they were playing, I'd be happy to bet 10k a game...or even 1k for that matter. It seems like it would be worth attempting to develop your own computer program (or having it done for you)...even if you don't have a multi-million $$ bankroll.

Are the computers and programs that these groups are using so far advanced and complicated that they are nearly impossible to replicate?

what makes you think there is a computer program that can pick 55% winners?

Most syndicates are not making money off of computer picks. They are moving lines and catching lines before they move.

I'm not saying I believe the 55% deal, but I have read about these "computer groups" with sophisticated programs that can "more accurately set lines", lines than the Books. But, it really doesn't make much sense that the the Books wouldn't have the BEST computers setting the BEST lines.

So, the syndicates are really just pushing big $$ around to move lines where the think they have the biggest advantage?

Yes.....

Line comes out at +2.5 for team B, they bet a million on Team B. They then have 5-6 major touts, tell the public to bet Team A. The line drops to pk em, they then lay off on Team A, and have a 2 pt middle with ZERO risk.

The REAL $ isn't made picking winners, the REAL $ is made picking middles at ZERO risk.

These guys pulled that shit on me yesterday with PIT/TB

Line opened at Pitt -10 then pounded to -7.5. At that point I jumped on TB because public was all over PITT and line was going in reverse by more than 2 points, which is usuallly money in the NFL. Hour before KO got steamed back to -9.5 and I heard the Computer Group was on PIT, and I knew I was sunk. Should have just nuked the bet at that point. I thought these dudes only bet college?:WTF:

I know a guy that has been involved with them and he's told me they've only had one losing season in like 30 years

Sorry, but your logic is faulty there. The books are out to get even action...and the pointspread that does that is different from the "true" pointspread (i.e. one that has a 50/50 chance of covering).

I wondered what happened with that game. I had TB because of the line movement. I should have waited until just before game time to watch any reverse line movement.

Thanks for the info.

Lockness monster
Bigfoot
Santa Claus
and the computer group

Urban legens that are blown out of proportions by the public. Not saying they don't exist and don't win but seem to be about as little known as anyone and anything in gambling. Everybody's dream is to think they can design some million dollar computer program and sit back by the pool and bet and win football games with little or no sweat involved. They probably are HUGE gamblers who work every bit as hard as the next guy and win with small edges for what kind of money they are putting down but I am sure they do win or they would be blowing their massaive amounts of money on something else.
