and that my friends sums up why this is the most flawed thing in all of major sports. What a mess. No way Florida goes over Michigan if USC wins over Ucla. Proving my point sice the beginning Florida got votes because people didn't want to see a rematch when the only question at hand is too vote who the 2 best teams are. If you like Florida that is fine but don't vote for them based on something like the above example.

Hmm, interesting thought.

Personally I think it was of the whole "what have you done for me lately" school of thought. Simply put, UF beat a solid Arkansas squad and got the #2 bid.

Case of the Big 10 not having the championship game and it hurt UM.

they would not have jumped them...bc it would not have been relevant as usc would have played ohiost for it all...

the voters did the right thing by flipflopping and putting florida ahead of michigan....

First, I believe UF is a better team by playing a MUCH better schedule - who cares about beating, PSU, NW, MSU, Iowa, Purdue and Minnesota - these are all average at best - so MI beat ND who gets killed by USC and is almost a double digit dog to an SEC team in the bowl.

Second, could you fathom if Michigan went and lost again - now you have a team that gets to lose twice to the same team while a similar team never got a chance to prove itself once.

That settles it...It's WED/DAY

and when asked to vote you are supposed to rank the teams based on your opinions and nothing else, peorid. Your logic is completely flawed. This is not what they are voting on, who plays who. That is left up to a system they have in place AFTER the voters vote on the RANKINGS of the teams.

Let me sum up Michigan - this schedule is joke - I'd put Oklahoma in before them as they only have one loss (Oregon does not count)

actually i dont think its flawed at all...

michigan finished SECOND in a conference that DOESNT have a title game...i rest my case....

you asked if usc had won would fla still have jumped michigan, i gave you my answer...NO they wouldnt have...thats the correct answer...

had USC beaten UCLA do i believe Florida SHOULD have jumped michigan after beating Arkansas in the sec title game...regardless of the fact that USC would be the #2 team...YES i believe it would have been correct to place them ahead of michigan....but it would not have happened....

They CRUSHED almost everyone of theses teams. Michigan had 1 win under 10 points and Florida had 4. You can cut this up any way you want and I am not saying voting Florida is wrong as most will tell you how this ended with a team JUMPING another team that had a bye because there season was over, makes little sense. I am not sure how they jumped them off of that win from voters who chose to go that route. That win was not anything impressive in a DOWN SEC.

A down SEC? You mean down Big 10 - with two teams in it this year?

Michigan should get more respect for running up the score on the the Vandys and Indianas?

A playoff would be best but Michigan belongs on the sidelines in this current situation and that's where they are.

More importantly, why would USC have been ahead of both of those teams with a victory when they are clearly not better than either?

I don't think Florida jumps Michigan if USC wins. But Urban Meyer did a great job of "campaigning" for his Gators to get the championship bid. Lloyd Carr did not. And much like in politics, it seems like the team with momentum is able to overtake a team sitting back and watching. Also consider this, if Michigan loses by 3 at Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game last weekend, would Florida jump USC and Michigan, with their win over Arkansas? I think they would have.

Good point Iceman.

but there is still something to be said for the human aspect of the human polls. Humans by nature will let emotions dictate their own opinions. There is nothing wrong with human attributes having a say in the title matchup. I would rather it be this way than to be completely statistically computer generated.
