Maybe to draw fans, not because he's still good. He's nothing now.

This is an absurd request and proves he was never pondering retiring, he wants to play past 2007, and possibly reach 800 homers....I think he should go to the AL, he should not be in the field, especiually the outfield! I don't think you can even hide Barry at 1B with those knees.

Come on, the guy did hit 270/454/545 on the year which was 1st in the league for OBP and 6th in OPS. Sure, you could say it's just because teams walk him but he can't hit, except for the fact that he was 9th in AB/HR with just over 14...

He's not what he used to be, but he ain't nothing. $20 mil? Probably not, but someone will get him for sure. He's still a great hitter.

So if he is worth 20 mill and wants 40 mill, that means you have to sell enough tickets, parking passes, hot dogs, beer, and hats to generate 20 mill EXTRA in profit, to break even.

yikes.....

I'd offer him $10-$11 bucks an hour to write tickets, but his attendance record is spotty at best.

Barry Bonds' agent met with Giants GM Brian Sabean for three hours on Wednesday night and said there had been progress in the negotiations for a contract.
Sources close to the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports said there is a second, as yet unidentified, team interested in Bonds, a claim ESPN has also made. If such a team exists, it's likely that Bonds met with the club before returning home tonight.

If a team had the $$$ & really needed a jump start, blowing the roll on Barry US Roids would be a hell of a bridgejumper.

Over the next 2 years, I fullly expect him to shrink faster than my balls hitting 45 degree lake water (Been there, done that.....Don't-especially not diving 4-6 ft deep)

Love him or hate him, at least for Next year he's worth at LEAST $20 million to the right Franchise.

Chasing Aaron I gotta believe he's gonna sell plenty of tickets.

Give him a big contract with clauses in it, that pay him based on games played, AB's, hits, etc.

Yeah Doug...leading the majors in obo and ba w/runners in scoring position while playing with one good knee is nothing...It was amazing the numbers he put up considering how bad he was feeling in april and may...

Would you want him on your team ( assume goal is to win) ? I don't think he's good for team chemistry. He has to be a liability in the field at 44 y.o. or so.

He's definetly no help in the NL anymore, mighty expensive part-timer, who is guaranteed to miss many games.

Give him a $2 M contract with incentives to 30M, he'll never get the 45HR, 140 RBI, 200 hits or whatever terms call for the big money.

J-man is right, he belongs in DH role in the AL. I doubt he hits 20 HR in 2007.

I could see him hitting 30+ homers if he had protection and just played DH.

I think this SF franchise is going to be down for many years after he leaves, they've been pretty cheap not going out and getting any real protection for him, and once he leaves who is going to fill those seats?

They had the most devastating player of all time and he had very littl around him, and they still almost won it all, should have...any help from management and this team would have been to a few WS....theyre (SF) damned if they do and damned if they don't at this point.
