Anyone ever had it done. If you have can u elaborate on your experience. Did u have any problems or complications. What was your recovery time? I wear contacts 99% of the time, but I put my glasses on today to give my eyes a rest and to get some oxygen. I fucking got in the shower with my glasses on, i'm tired of the hassle of contacts/glasses, seriously debating on if I should have the surgery done or not.

My bro had it done and swears by it. Blind as a bat b4 in 1998, still has perfect vision now.

I drove away from there (shhh-not supposed to do that), and was in good shape in an hour, and felt great the next day.

took about 5 minutes an eye... recovery, u go into a room and rest your eyes for about 20 minutes and they come in do a check-up, put u in shaded glasses, and send u on your way... they tell u to go home and take a nap and when i woke up i was good to go...

I am strongly concidering having this done as well, only need glasses for seeing long distance but it is still a pain in the ass.

What is the going rate for this now?

If I weren't lazy enough to wear contacts daily instead of wearing glasses, I may not bother considering the Lasik surgery... my optometrist (if I have that spelling right?) had the surgery done years ago, he still claims to have 20/20 vision, etc.

(The only thing that'd worry me is that I cannot really afford any potential complications; not the cost of surgery... around 3K-4K last I recall?; anyway, I'm deaf so I rely on my eyes completely... I'll wait until I'm bit older to reconsider this seemingly-simple procedure... but I have heard a lot of good things about this, yes.)

I had this done a few years ago. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT. Close to 20/20 vision now. Recovery time was one day, I slept for a log time afterwards (sleeping pills) and you have to sleep with these covers over your eyes, which is annoying, also you will see a small amount of halos around lights at night, but it's all worth it.

Get it done immediately! I had it done in March 2005 and would recommend it to anyone. You can get it done for around $1000 now which is basically the cost of 3 pairs of glasses.

As stated, it takes around 5 minutes for each eye, and then they will have yuou around for 30 minutes to an hour so that they can check up on you and administer some eye drops. After that they send you on your way. Your vision might be slightly blurry but you can see. I caught the streetcar home without a problem after the procedure and the very next day my vision was fine, and has been so ever since.

Get out of the shower and get it done asap!

I was about to post a thread just like this but glad it got started.

How did you guys find the doctor to do the surgery? I know there are so many out there and I want to find one that is reputable.

I had the procedure done(I'm nearsighted) in 2003 and had an "upgrade" last year. I did it for selfish reasons(play golf without contacts), and can now see better than 20/20. The trade-off I made is I now have to wear reading glasses. I had TLC Eye Center( Tiger Woods, Fred Funk) do the procedure and have never "looked" back. They are much more expensive, but have a lifetime guarantee. Watch out for the hacks on sports talk shows that advertise for $300 an eye. You will regret it! Good Luck

i had it done 8 years ago. Went in the afternoon, got cut (took like less than an hour I think), caught a ride home, took a sleeping pill.
Caught a ride to the doctor's office the next morning and had 20/20 vision, I could have driven to the appointment if I needed to.
8 years later, still no problems. Worked out well for me.

Lasik is great. I had it done in 1993 in Canada by TLC, because the FDA hadn't approved it yet. Before the procedure, my eyes were both over 20/400. Afterwords, 20/40. The best money I ever spent.
It is best to have an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist, do the initial consultation. Ophthalmologists are much better qualified to do this stuff.

also interested myself, sick of the hassles of contacts. one thing my optometrist told me, was that a good percentage of people have to go back to glasses/contacts after 5-10 years and then there is always that 1% (or is it less than that) chance of something going very wrong. I do think I am going to do it though, just a matter of when

I remember some kid telling me he had 20/400 vision but I didn't believe him. So if you were 20 feet from a billboard, you'd have the same clarity as someone with normal vision standing 400 feet away. That is insane.
