Unlike a few years ago, the list to choose from is down considerably considering the nature of the game today.

Is the Barnaby listed the one I am thinking about that used to play for Tampa? That cat got beat up in the parking lot on the way to the game some nights, LOL. Seriously he's not considered one of the game's tough guys is he? Getting in a lot of fights is not the same as winning a lot of fights. He's simply outclassed against any of the big boys around the league, not even close. Or he's gotten tougher since I last seen him fight.

Forgive me, I don't follow pucks that much now since I am out of town and don't use my old ST's but he got abused a lot back in the day.

No I didn't know that Fisher, thanks. Yeah nice to see him back. I was just thinking about all the old tough guys the Lightning had, I'd say the most popular of them all was Rudy Poeschek, fans really liked him back in the day. Rudy, Rudy, Rudy.....

BTW what a great win against Atlanta last night, we probably scored more points there than we will against the Falcons Sunday.

Speaking of the game, glad I got to watch it all in the confort of the abode.......the Bolts were hitting on all cylinders and VINNY was awesome(MVP contender??).

The DUCKS in tommorrow and bringing the best record in the NHL with them.............and could bring the Lightning back to reality quickly...............thank goodness the Ducks are playing in WASH tonight, as that might be a savior.

Vinny should strap them for years to come. How about concentrating on defense and goaltending? Mediocare team for years until they get rid of Feaster. But I don't know anything about hockey.

1. Georges Laraques
2. Brian McGratton
3. Wade Belak

Now the NHL players in the league are the ones who say these guys are the toughest. I would say good notables are Andrew Peeters and Andre Roy (nice to see him back with Tampa, that team seriously needs him!). At least #1 Laraques is understood, I hear Belak's name thrown around a lot and I have only seen him lose to Laraques. McGratton and Peeters are good to watch fight.

Aside from that it is a real shame that there are less fights in the "new" NHL. These tough guys do serve a real purpose which is to protect the star players. Expect more star players to get cheap shots, hits from behind, slashes, elbows to the head as a result of the new NHL that tries to crack down on fighting.

Stu Grimson wasn't the greatest but he was definitely a tough guy and went up with some of the greatest in the mid to late 90's.

As a Vancouver Canuck fan who saw Brashear play for us for a long time, and George LaRaque playing for our rivals in Edmonton, as much as I hate to admit it I have to say Laraque is much tougher then Brashear and I witnessed George pummel him on several occasions. I don't know about this season because I haven't seen him fight as much, but as far as over the last 7 years or so Laraque easily gets my vote as #1. Boogard and McGratten may be taking over that spot if you just count the past season or two

bakin, I actually know Belak from his days as a Saskatoon Blade, he is good buds with a lot of my North Battleford friends that grew up with him. I would rank him top 8 in the NHL but not top 3, but yeah he is one big and tough dude. McGratten actually beat him up pretty bad last year on Hockey Night in Canada.

yeah, he might be a tad lower, he doesn't get a chance to fight as much and yes McGratton did beat him nicely and McGratton has done that to a few others already. About a year or 2 ago he was mentioned as #2 behind Laraques but these new guys seemed to come out of nowhere. I want to see more fighting but these players can't because their penalties become more of a liability. I mean did Bettman ever play in the NHL? Probably never, but we'll wait for GM's to start complaining about losing star players.

Anyways, McGratton vs. Jansen
