A summary of it's utility on a Friday:

A total of approximately 21 games to bet on Friday, NBA and NCAAB (approximation because I'm going on lines I saw at pinny during the day not sky, sky if anything would have had less).

The lines for NCAAB on Saturday (which you can bet on Friday and still get the 1/2 point) were up at approximately 11:00-12:00 East Coast Time. The 1/2 point ceased to apply after 12:00 AM West Coast Time, or 3 AM E.T.

So you're looking at a 3, max 3.5-4 hour window on which you can use the 1/2 point for Saturday basketball (of which we all know the card is enormous). For those of us that may actually have a semi-normal social life and maybe go out occasionally on Friday night, these hours aren't exactly ideal for looking at Saturday lines and betting accordingly.

Just for those that were interested in the utility of the Friday b-ball 1/2 point. I know everyone appreciates it for football if you can wait until later in the week for lines to open there. Just thought I'd write this up since alot of questions circulate regarding this.

Call me slow or whatever but I don't get the math say the Saturday lines are available at noon EDT on Friday and still betable at Midnight EDT Friday why is the window 3.5-4 hours? I know it is now 5AM EDT Sat so maybe I am just groggy and mising something. Unless the lines don't go up until 11:00-12:00PM (midnight) Friday night in other words actually not available at all on Friday and are almost immediately unbetable because of the Midnight PDT. deadline -- imo that makes very little sense.

Over the years I have written thousands college basketball games starting at approximately 6PM EDT or as soon after the old Stardust lottery hung the numbers the entire industry was waiting for.. Everyone knows I am a huge fan of Skybook but quite honestly hope they don't hang their Saturday free half point betable college hoops action as late as 11PM EDT on Friday night.

Thats exactly what he is saying, you have between midnight ( FRI ) and 3am ( Sat ) to take advantage of the free half point offer. They are kindly giving you a little over 3 hours to take your free half point.

You sure can use it on the Saturday games until 3:00 am Sat PST. I did and it helped (Kentucky-4.5).

This didn't work for me. Last night I placed bets at Sky at around 12:30 AM EST, and I received the 1/2.

Then I tried placing more bets at 3:15 AM EST, and did NOT receive the free 1/2.

That's because 3:15 AM EST would be past midnight PST. So it would not work anymore.

I was referring to billpapa's post, in which he said it was available until 3:00 AM PST, not EST.

He's right, that does make it tough to say the least to take advanatge of that free 1/2. On a semi-related note it the entire off-shore world is posting their NCAAB overnights slower than ever before, regardless of the day of the week. Seems like we used to get them for the next day between 4-5PM EST from the early bird books like CRIS, Greek and Pinnacle. Now you are lucky to have a line anywhere before 645-7PM.

Is it just me or they coming out later and later? I looked most days this last week and the first thing out believe it or not is the totals, Pinny hangs them but not the sides. First one to come out with those is CRIS but it seems to be around 630EST or so of late. I know NBA was always first but that still seems a lot later than it used to be for college lines. Anyway rant over, back to the Skybook dilema....
