WildBill said:Gee the #1 team in the AFC and the #2 in the NFC, both off of big wins. People who make such obvious statements should be laughed at. People calling up radio shows saying this all day, like its some sort of stunning surprise. Maybe if you haven't watched a game all year and didn't see a newspaper either. At least one radio host pretty much shamed this guy who called into say about 5 obvious things (one was "no one is going to catch Seattle in the NFC West") and then ended it with "watch for the Bears to win tonight, its my special". The caller was just calling for a Bears win, not necessarily cover.
This day and age where everyone gets to air their opinion doesn't mean we are collectively any smarter for it. Besides where were all these brilliant people before Sunday night? I bet 98% of them were saying Chargers-Cowboys was a sure thing. uppy:

Don't care, the guy gets into the playoffs and his entire game plan changes...Journeyman said:Marty has won almost his entire career...was it his fault Ernest Byner fumbled? I think not....was it him trying to stop Elway's 'drive'?
It really gets old this stuff when a guy can't win the big one, like the entire reason falls on him...he's one of the games winningest coaches.

WC Bias said:Journey, I agree with Brock on this one. No way San Diego should have lost to the Jet's in 04, that was all on Marty. Lining up a rookie kicker for a 40+ yard field goal in the rain on a muddy field? Pure Marty.
I'll give you another one that mirrors this season's Chargers to a T...Remember the 1997 KC Chiefs? I believe this was Marty's last venture to the playoffs before the Chargers 04. They finished the season 13-3 and won their last 4 games of the regular season by a score 128-29. Home field for the playoffs, 1st round bye.
So what happens? Denver comes in to Arrowhead and wins 14-10.
Hopefully Marty sticks to the motivator roll and lets Cam run the offense on 100% kill mode. If he puts on the breaks and plays not to lose, which he has done throughout his career in the NFL playoffs....he will.
Journeyman said:I'm not defending him, I am mearly pointing out he is a very succesful coach...one SB win and everyone forgets his past troubles see Roy Williams, see Gary Williams ,see Bill Cowher , see Lloyd Carr.
What about in Jan 96, when Indy went into KC and won with Harbaugh, wasn't that another Marty choke? Had KC really highily regarded and they blew a home playoff game...WC Bias said:Journey, I agree with Brock on this one. No way San Diego should have lost to the Jet's in 04, that was all on Marty.
