Did anyone else catch Boomer Esiason's jab at Dan Marino again yesterday?

Boomer has had it in for Dan for years , I'm not sure if they like each other off the set or not, I've noticed over the years Boomer likes to take subtle jabs at Marino.

Yesterday they were discussing Peyton Manning's latest troubles.

Boomer was the one talking and said , "by the time he's done he could very well be the best quarterback to never win a Super Bowl in NFL history" ....they cut to James Brown who starts a promo for something and you can hear Boomer or Dan in the background laughing or reacting to those comments Boomer just made, once again snubbing Dan Marino.

It was very obvious that was the noise in the background...did anyone else catch that?

I caught it, but it shouldn't be a jab, since Marino is the most overrated superstar in our lifetime. Good QB yes Superstar NO. Anytime there was a big game, Marino would fold in the clutch and blamed everyone else. I would put 20 QB's ahead of this guy. Stats mean nothing.

Dan had no running game almost his entire career, I think people forget how good some players were and tend to remember the end of their careers.

Remembering those shutouts up in Foxboro late in his career where Miami squeaked into the playoffs, I don't think you can blame Marino for them.

The similarities to him and Manning, right down to that whiney look when they don't do well, are uncanny.

When I was a youngster in the mid 1980's, my dad had season tickets to the Miami Dolphins. Miami had no defense. their defense was a wing and a prayer. Tony Nathan was a decent reciever as a back, but he did not provide a ground game.

But Miami went 14-2 in 1985 and challenged the 49ers in the Super Bowl who I think were 15-1 and pretty much playing at home. Miami had beaten Pittsburgh 48-21 in the AFC title game which I went to. Why did they make the Super Bowl? Because Marino was a one man gang, thats why.The game was at Stanford stadium I think wherevever that is in California. It was cold and extremely foggy. Marino threw for 303 yards in the fog, but Miami got beaten badly anyway because their defense got completely exposed.

Miami hasnt smelled a Super Bowl since. But lay off Marino. He was spectacular in his day. Miami just wasnt ever good enough or nearly good enough around him. But Marino was better than any other QB Ive ever seen. And I saw all of Charlie Wards antics as a senior up close when he went on to win the Heisman. but Marino in 1985 is untouchable almost.

if you want to try and throw a stone, then consider he threw 48 TD passes that season. thats 3 a game. plus whatever rushing TD's Miami had and their field goals. tough team to beat.

was at that Superbowl , Marino was not the reason for that loss...........a
poor Miami D, an excellent gameplan by Bill Walsh, that was well executed by a team that was more talented at almost every position, in what was esssentially a home game for the 49er's , were the reasons they lost .....remember thinking at the time that Miami would be back a couple times and eventually win one ..............:ohno:
