Listen to this! Changing Spreads...

A friend of mine just told me that the local he plays with can change the line on him before the game and the line that he gets is not necessarily the one he bets.....Listen...

For example, if he puts the Rams in at +7 tonight, and they lose 31-24, (by 7), the bookie can say It changed to six before game time......

I tried explaining to the guy how dumb he was and he could get screwed so easily by this guy!

Any advice to get him to change?

tell him, that if he is willing to have his bookie change the spread AFTER the game, that you will be his bookie, and will do so for reduced juice.

When he laughs, stare him right in the eye, and say "I am serious". Just keep looking him right in the eye, and say "well is it a deal".

He will get the point.

years ago the bookies would pull the pick -1 crap on either side and I thought that was bad! Man what a sucker.

This sounds a little too naive. The book must be using a closing line as the final number somewhere that could be different from when the guy calls...like scores&odds or something. Have the guy get the source of the line change or else move on.
