Just got back from Vegas. Would recommend highly staying away from the Grand Lux at the Venetian. I have never been so sick in my life after eating there.

Are you sure it wasn't just the Bush/Leinart performances this weekend?

Hmmm. Maybe I missed something. Bush ran for about 30 yards and Leinart won his 2nd game. I won too much $$$ at the tables to be worried about them.

Yea...you must have missed a bunch if that is what you got from those performances.

But congrats at making money on the tables. You never seem to lose at anything. I need your luck.

Rail I remained stunned that you come out here. You either get sick or shot at every time.

Rail was actually eating hot dogs while he was out stalking this. He still claims looking at her doesn't give him stomach problems.

In the good old days of the Westward Ho, you didn't have those problems. Those foot long hot dogs were the bomb. Add the popcorn for stick and a 75 cent Heinekin next door and Walah, your good to go.

Everybody kows not to eat the shrimp cocktail for 99 cents.

With the traffic each property sees, one person getting food poisoning would mean hundreds would get it. In todays "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to golf in lightning" and the recent Taco Bell news, we live in a world of lawsuits, even a small food poisoning scare makes news.

Worked in an ER years ago (91-95) and I'm sure others like DocSlep should back me up. The majority of "real" food poisining comes from the home. Taking anywhere from 8-36 hours to develop, people often have 1-2 meals before the symptoms kick in, and naturally assume it was the last place they ate. Might have been this restaurant...could have been pizza the night before...could have been the hotdog on Freemont before that.

Many people overload their gall bladder with grease and get the "cramps followed by exit through both ends" reaction and assume it's food poisining. Food poisining caused by bacteria such as Salmonella is quite honestly a sight to behold. I've been lucky enough to never have this, but a friend years ago picked it up (poor kitchen conditions at home and he ate a lot of chicken). I saw a special on it years later on discovery channel and they might as well have been filming him.

Here's to hoping you feel better. :toast:

Las Vegas has turned into a sh*thole. Place was great 15 to 20 years ago, but no with all the people here it has turned into Los Angeles II.

Excellent post, said it better then I could have stated it and I had to take a brutally boring food sanitation class for culinary school..

A couple other factoids: in most cases you won't get sick from anything with a high PH level, such as spaghetti sauce, or a lemon based sauced, the biggest culprit is Mexican foods because they cook alot of rice and beans of which is an anobolic bacteria and are very low, if not any PH level (acidic level) to fend off food born bacteria.. They cook rice and beans in huge quanities and almost never are cooled in to a safe level before bacteria growth can start. Now on the other hand if someone were to sneaze at the bufett that's a whole different ballgame and completely out of the hands of the establishment of which you eat at.

I got so sick after eating at the Outback SteakHouse (from undercooked rack of lamb, hit me 24 hours later and had not eatin anything in that peroid) I had cold shivers, diapukia (combo package) you get the picture.. I also had bloody explosive daihrea, cramps.. I almost passed out after being in the bathroom for 4 hours straight...After all that, when I was able to walk a couple hours later I was on the way to the ER and got better as soon as I parked... :puppy:

I used to work for the Schwann's company. They got hit with a lawsuit because of undercooked eggs in their ice cream. When I worked there after that one of the food experts told me that food poisoning is not killed by freezing. Hence the ice cream outbreak.

He also said that it is important to wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap after handling raw chicken. Now most people use too much anti-bacterial soap. But in some instances such as the raw chicken it is necessary. Also times that it is necessary is when handling poopy baby diapers or when the toilet paper breaks when you're wiping yourself.

You needed a food expert to tell you that? :WTF:
