you can make that point...but they are a top 10 team, imo...dont need specific all stars to make a 'team' good. How many Pro Bowlers has the Pats produced during their 3 Super Bowl in four year run.

LSU had a brutal schedule, where they were the only team to play 4 Top 10 teams, on the road.

Also, Zibi as a third teamer? Any other ND fans can attest he is very overrated, as I feel that way.

Who cares? LSU would have at least 5 players on a 4th team if there was one..The Irish will feel the wrath of this "top 20" team after a 20+ point drubbing the Tigers will give them....The SEC will prove their dominance this bowl season.....

The point is that we keep hearing all this talk about how much "talent" LSU has, and how they are the most talented team in the SEC, etc., etc...

So, for as much as we hear this talk, one could be led to believe that LSU should have a greater number of players on the All America team than 2.

its not about star power with lsu but rather deep talent pools at every position. your point is well taken, as you would think theyd put a few more guys on those all-america teams. but their strength lies in the ability to just wear you down because the guys theres not a precipitous drop from the 1st to their 2nd teams.

Well said Prodigy..
LSU could go 3 deep at many positions including QB and RB..Having 3 great WR's and a QB that spread the ball around didn't help that position..
All American is really meaning-less anyway..
I do understand what you meant College Fan..I have listened to too many USC fans talk about their no Defense league over the past 3-4 years that I get a little worked up when my Tigers are mentioned...

Bingo! It is sad how people can't understand such a simple concept. I guess that is why people are so gullible to believe the hype machine about how some are unbeatable.

LSU has a very talented football team. The all-american team is centered around RESULTS, and not TALENT, which is the epitome of LSU this year. 2 losses, damn near 4 losses, because of 2 plays on the final seconds. All of the talent in the world, but little results to show for it because A) a BRUTAL schedule, B) probably not coached up well C) they cant seem to pull it all together

will they vs. Notre Dame? i think so.

I wasn't endorsing the All-America team as the be-all, end-all measuring stick for talent, but I just had to call out LSU's representation, after having been fed with all this media hype about how "GREAT" LSU is, and how much "TALENT" they have.

Prodigy & EDG -- I have to disagree with you on this one. LSU doesn't have any more depth than most other top-10, top-15 teams. Prodigy, you make it sound like LSU wears all these teams down and wins their games in the 4th Qtr b/c of their "depth." IMO, there is more of a drop between the 1st teamers and 2nd teamers than you are alluding to. To answer tigerclicks, you can't tell me that LSU wouldn't miss a beat if they inserted Matt Flynn in there instead of Russell. RB's, I'll give you -- they do have a lot of depth there. WRs - no. Only 3 WRs have more than 6 catches - that's not depth. They do have a little more "depth" on the defensive side, but I still don't think there is only a minimal drop between the one's and two's, as you assert.

So, what makes LSU so talented? What is the proper measuring stick? Is it just b/c the media keeps talking about all this talent, we have to believe it? We certainly aren't seeing all this talent by way of their results on the field, are we? For purposes of having a healthy discussion on this, I am asking that someone provide some type of proof to support this hypothesis. That's all....

you'll see the support come NFL draft day I believe over the next 2 years

they should have 2 or 3 1st rounders this year alone, and plenty of other draft picks in the other rounds

This stuff is all so messed up and media biased I don't know why anyone with a lick of sanity would bother analyzing it. Come on Troy Smith is a great college QB, but really now would you pick him as the QB of a team you were putting together just for an example? No one can tell me Smith didn't thrive thanks to a great OL and a ton of talented skill players to call upon. And he sure didn't throw for 53 TDs like Brennan did.

The whole AA teams are a joke really, subject to who plays on TV the most and who got the most hype coming into the season. I mean for all the hype he got, what did Ted Ginn really deliver this year?

Saban knows talent, thats why school trip over themselves trying to get him.

And yes, Zibi is a little overrated. Their DL and OL are too.

"The whole AA teams are a joke really, subject to who plays on TV the most and who got the most hype coming into the season."

NFL draft will tell you who had/has most talent...end of discussion.

Come back in April and post your finding's!

of the 6 all american running backs, 4 are sophomores.

WV has 2 first teamers on offense in case anyone didn't notice. In fact the entire Big East is very well represented on this year's All American teams.

This is a really stupid thread. All you have to do is watch LSU play to realize the speed and talent that they possess as a TEAM, that is if you have an ounce of scouting talent, which may not be the case.

All that speed and talent didn't stop them from losing 2 games. BCS bowl or not they have underachieved this year as a team.
