Good point brought up by a sports forum that I visit.

Can someone please explain to me why Dwayne Jarrett was awarded 1st Team All-American?

I'm not debating that this guy isnt a good receiver. He's great, will be a solid NFL receiver, reminds me of Reggie Wayne. But All-Americans are a mixture between talent, competition faced, and above all - RESULTS.

This guy isnt in the top 30 in any major receiving stat besides TD's where he checks in at 17, and doesnt even have the best receiving numbers on his own team.

RECEIVING GP No. Yds Avg TD Long Avg/G
------------------------------------------------------
Smith, Steve 12 64 975 15.2 8 53 81.2
Jarrett, Dwayne 11 58 773 13.3 10 43 70.3

The ESPN hype machine continues.

Besides Steve Smith....another example...Robert Meacham of Tennessee blows this guys stats out of the water and faced a lot better defenses.

I know he had some shoulder issues....but.....how long was he out for with that?

And injuries are usually factored in. Like if Shaun Alexander misses half the season, he doesnt usually make the Pro Bowl.

The media (ESPN) is in love with USC right now, Jarrett will be slightly better than Mike Williams, not great though.

Jeff Samardzija is another joke to put ahead of Meachem.

If I was Meachem I would be crying bloody murder. Media is absolutely clueless.

Media appoints Brady Quinn king of the world...Samardzija gets to catch passes from Captain Worldbeater and they faced every military team this year and his stats get beat in almost every category by Meacham, who faced 5 or 6 top 25 defenses.

What am I missing? Oh yeah, ESPN highlights. How foolish of me.

Tonight in the little clip to show you whats coming on sportscenter they are talking rookie of the year, they show Bush, Young and Hester, of course no Maurcie Drew clip. I didnt see sportscenter, they had to mention him, maybe not, but how they show a clip of those three and not Maurice. I would have to compare men watching sportscenter with women watching Oprah, which is why I don't watch sportscenter. Most people on this site get it, but most people in the US are zombies and just do or believe what TV tells them.

He was very banged up this year. He got hurt during their Arizona game, on Sept. 23, missed all of the WSU game, played for about 1 minute against WU, played at 50% at best against ASU, about 60%-70% against OSU, and really wasn't to full strength until the UO game. I'm surprised this is your exhibit b though, as there are much worse examples you can find if you really looked.
