well deserved extension. very few people can handle the egos of that circus group. didnt want to see him leave and then have the clips slip back into obscurity.

:lolBIG:

There won't be any egos left...he will trade them all away for scabs and his son before he leaves.

Wow, that is unbelievable, the Clippers front office are absolutely clueless, are they watching how this team is performing under Dunleavy this year???

Not just this year...he forced them to draft that Russian idiot when there were difference makers still available in the draft.

Dunleavy is a piece of shit. Anyone could have won with their talent last season.

He ran off Wilcox and now Maggette is gone for sure. Two young All Star caliber players.

stockpiling talent doesnt work in the nba. ive always liked maggette but wilcox is an enigma. he's ok. but nothing great. thought he was going to be more dominant than he is. clippers are relevant again, and thats got a lot to do with dunleavy.

You try and stir up things on the board and I get a kick out of some of your posts...but it is obvious you have no understanding of this team and organization and that's ok.

Dunleavy's rotations are a joke and he is lost this season. He tried to rush Livingston into a starting role which he is not ready for. He has no clue on how to evaluate talent (Russian draft pick over Granger and many others...Wilcox...Maggette...etc).

because i dont agree with someone with a clippers avatar, im trying to stir things up? get a clue. its called having an opinion. youre a passionate fan. thats fine. that doesnt make you the authority on clippers basketball. im more than receptive to your opinion. i expect the same from you.

dunleavy has always been a good coach. he's taken on some big challenges and got done some solid work managing big time egos. he wasnt the only coach to miss on granger. a lot of people had question marks about that kid.

i think he deserved the extension. at some point, the onus is on the players to get it done. they have the talent now. you cant keep jettisoning coaches every few years. dunleavy has them playing as a cohesive group more often than not, and thats something you could never say about the clips. they bought into defense and if they stay committed to that, they'll be fine.

i respect your opinion, just wondering what you like about wilcox so much. i just tend to think a change of scenery was better for him. he's just enigmatic. sometimes he plays like a beast. other times, hes a nonfactor. ive always like maggette - going back to duke. i agree the clips dont want to mess that up. but with wilcox, i dont see what the fuss was.

If I remember correctly, you were the same guy that came into my Fresno State thread. I've seen you in other basketball threads trying to counter whatever is said.

You are free to voice your opinion wherever you want just as everyone else is...but that doesn't mean I am forced to respect it. I just fealt like you were saying the opposite of my opinion to get a rise out of me.

Granger was one example. There were plenty of talented players available with that pick. Dunleavy promised that sorry Russian he would draft him with the Clippers 1st pick after watching him play against scrubs in Russia no better than bad high school players here in the states.

Wilcox is a highly sought after PF with a ton of athleticism and upside.

Maggette will be an All Star wherever he ends up.

The Clippers did a great job of finally putting talent together on the roster. Dunleavy is screwing that up.

What did he do to earn the extension? Traded away Wilcox...drafted a kid that has no business being in the NBA...benched and has tried to trade Maggette for 2 years...

The wins would have come with any coach. The team finally has the talent and experience to compete. Sam Cassell should be earning Dunleavy's salary as he is the best coach on the team.

That's hilarious...yea, they are playing great. They played great last season because it was the first time since '93 that we had any talent. You can't say they ever played as a cohesive group? Why? Because they never won? That is because of the talent the franchise had prior to Dunleavy jumping on board with one a loaded roster that had been built from the 3 previous seasons.

We had no depth at the PF/C spot coming in to this season. Wilcox would have been huge. What do we have to show for that brilliant trade he orchestrated?

He is a solid defensive coach. There are plenty of them out there. There are much better offensive coaches and guys that will put their own ego aside and play the players deserving of the minutes. Larry Brown hated Iverson...but he played him. Dunleavy didn't like Wilcox...so he benched him...then he traded him. Dunleavy doesn't like Maggette...so he benched him...and has been trying to trade him for 2 seasons. If that is what you call doing a good job of dealing with egos, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Hold on. Wilcox is playing great right now, but when he was on the Clips (I understand Dunleavy wasn't giving him minutes) he was a head case and still is! He didn't play hard every night and Dunleavy hated him for it.

Wilcox has so much potential it is scary. He wasn't given the chance to develop.

He just turned 24. He is averaging 11.6 pts with 8.5 rebs after averaging 14.1 pts and 8.2 rebs for Seattle last season. He should be a consistent 15/10 player by next season at the age of 25.

He had a great contract and he filled a desperate need we have which is an athletic post player that can rebound and defend. It wasn't like he was a perimeter player where we were already too deep and guys weren't getting enough minutes. He filled the backup PF/C spot and played both positions well. He was the perfect compliment to Brand/Kaman because of his athleticism.

You don't think a 24 year old with his height, athleticism, and skill are worth more than a player like Radmanovich for half a season?

There are head cases on every team in the NBA.

He is playing great now...he played great for the Clippers also. When he was forced to start because of injury, he put up better numbers for the Clippers than he is putting up for Seattle.

Dunleavy didn't like him and made it known...then he took Wilcox completely out of the rotation because of it. It had nothing to do with how he was producing.

Wilcox was young and probably a bit immature...so what? There are a lot of those guys in the NBA. That is why you bring in guys like Sam Cassell and veterans to help them. The coach shouldn't just run off a young player with that much potential.

are we talking about darius miles or chris wilcox? same difference. there are plenty of guys with great height and athleticism that cant cut it in the nba. im not sure how wilcox is much different from darius miles in that department. on some nights, miles would look like the best player in his draft class. other nights, he would uninterested and lazy. i think the clips have done a good job of ridding themselves of guys who just dont bring it every night. its not about talent. the knicks have a lot of talent, but theyre a damn mess.

Comparing Darius Miles to Chris Wilcox? Apples to oranges...

I'm glad they got rid of Miles. Miles could not play PF/C and fill the void the team has. Miles was a freak athletically with no role or position. Wilcox is a true PF.

How many 24 year olds are there in the NBA that are averaging his numbers? How many of them would get dealt for Vladimir Radmanovic for half a season?

I don't like Dunleavy either. He's good for rebuilding and getting a team to a certain point, but won't take you to the next level. He's too conservative for me, but I don't blame him for Wilcox!! He did not come to play every night!!! It was frustrating watching him have a great game one night, and float through the next. Dunleavy tried to force him to grow up and it didn't happen so he had to move him. He's not doing the same thing to Livingston for obvious reasons. He's prepared to play every game.

Do you really thing Seattle is going anywhere with him when Alllen comes back?? They're not that bad of a team and they're already talking about scrapping them. Just because you have a team that's talented doesn't mean you're going to win with them. If it's full of immature players you're screwed. That's why the USA teams can't beat anyone anymore.

i went to go see what the fuss was about with this apparent fresno thread you speak of.

my lord.

calm down. i didn't know that raising some questions about fresno's defense would stir things up. the thread was a month ago. i even said that i liked fresno's team and they were capable of being one of the better teams in the wac. i just felt they were a bit overrated. every team has weaknesses. might as well lay 'em out there so we can all benefit from an info exchange.

as for miles and wilcox, its not quite the apples and oranges you make it out to be. different positions? of course. but attitude and lack of consistency are descriptions you can use for both players. im not saying the kid isnt a good player. ive always looked at him as someone with massive potential. but even what hes doing with seattle isnt what a lot expected from him out of maryland. maybe the clips could have gotten a bit more. but its not always a talent-for-talent exchange when you trade in the nba.

i still hold to my belief that dunleavy deserved the extension. you can certainly disagree. thats fine, and i respect that. but this team was going nowhere fast without him. at least he makes players accountable. even guys like maggette -- a developing star -- still are accountable. and thats a good thing for the organizaton.

I'm plenty calm...I just don't like you. :toast:

Since you seem to have an opinion on the situation, what is Maggette being held accountable for?

Huh? Who said anything about Seattle going anywhere?

USA can't beat anyone anymore because they don't have anyone that can make perimeter shots consistently.

So you are saying trading Wilcox when he was 22 for Radmanovic for half a season was a good trade? Leaving the Clippers with no post players for situations just like we are in this season...that makes about as much sense as you hyping the Russian draft pick.

I'm off to play some hoops...I can't bare to watch the boys tonight knowing Dunleavy will be on that bench for 5 more seasons.
