My neighbors uncle is Tim Gurgovich (i dont know if that is spelled right) hes an assistant coach on the nuggets and used to coach at pitt and at unlv after tark, real nice guy. He gets passes every year that his team is in town (he was with the blazers last year) to play the wiz and gives them to my neighbor. tonight they had an extra pass and brought me. Despite the fact that they had just got blown out by 20+ they were pretty up beat. They had to leave for boston tonight so i did not get to see much of them but most of them were nice and signed autographs for my lil brother and his lil 9 year old friend. Adrien Dantley was a dick and ignored me when I asked him for a picture with the lil guys. I figured hed be cool too since he went to dematha and is from the area. Camby walked by and ignored the lil guys too, dick. I was happy to report taht I got a picture with Earl Boykins to prove to my friends that i am taller than him, and an nba player for that matter (I am only 5'6, but earl is a tall 5'2). Melo never came out to the area we were standing in, i know he had alot of family there b/c he is from the area and might have gone out with them afterwards cuz he never boarded the team bus. The highlight was seeing jadakiss, who is a famous rapper, he was in the area we were in meeting with the players too. real nice guy, we were the only white people in the whole room so i walked up to him and asked us if hed take a picture with the white boys, lol, he laughed and said sure.

Just wanted to share my experience tonight, def very cool!

I thougt Boykins was in the 5'5" range. How are Nene, Najera, Kenyon Martin, and Andre Miller in person?

Cool Story.

boykins is listed at 5'5 but he is def 5'2, maybe 5'3 at best. Nene, Najera, Kenyon, and Andre all came out and were all cool guys. They signed for everyone that asked and took pictures if we asked too. Miller is another guy that Id say is 5'10 at best.

One thing to keep in mind is that these guys just got blown out by 20 about 5 minutes before you walked in there and started asking for pictures and autographs.

I know part of their job is being in the public spotlight, but when it comes down to it they don't owe you anything. Imagine if I brought my kids over to your house after a bad beat, or to your job after your boss just tore you a new one for messing something up. Chances are you wouldn't be all smiles either :p

Sounds like a cool night though!

boykins is one of the most down to earth guys youll ever meet. every summer, he plays in 2 or 3 different summer leagues in the cleveland area with his buddies. one league is competitive with most of the players having lower D-1 and some D-2/D-3 experience. another is just a straight rec league. yet even in the rec league, he doesnt 'big time' people. hes not out there killing people, but he's not going at it half-assed either. he doesnt have a big head at all. it doesnt surprise me that he was accomodating to you after the game tonight.

With Dantley he is a coach so he prolly was a little more pissed, but with Camby he walked right by the two lil guys I was with and stop to talked to this chick that was borderline a prostitute, based on the way she was dressed. This is the NBA, guys get used to losing. Im telling you, if i didnt know they just got beat by almost 30 I never would have guessed because of how up beat they were. They are in the middle of a long east coast swing, they accept the fact that they are not going to win everygame and they have done well so far this season. if they had just lost the 6th striaght im sure it would have been different.

I respectfully disagree. Without the fans, these guys wouldn't be getting paid. Don't like to be in the spotlight? Fine. Give up your multi-million dollar salary and go get a different job...

On another note, you really think these guys gave a shit that they lost by 20??

Yeah its funny because if you saw the same guys laughing after a loss and yucking it up with peeps you would think they didnt care about losing.

Being somewhat vertically challanged myself, Boykins is becoming my hero.

5'2"? Come on....you gotta be kidding me. He's not that short, is he?

jadakiss, might be a rapper, but famous?? come on now...

Sounds like a great time though, glad most guys were cool, sad to hear AD was not, hopefully it was because he was pissed over losing, could be, he actually had heart when he played unlike the stiffs today.

Are you serious? Youre calling them dicks because they just got beat bad and youre in their locker room and they wont take pics for you?! That kind of stuff gets on my nerves. If they take pics and sign then that's great and theyre being nice. But just because they dont want to cater to your requests doesnt mean they are dicks.

The only difference I can see is that if something like that happened to me at my job, (ie just getting my ass handed to me by my boos for f'in something up) I would still be joe cool cuz I know at the end of the day I would be going home to count my millions.

Funny thing ..people always say money isnt everything (which I agree with) but then they miss the comment after that should be attached to it ... "It sure makes it easier"

I read where Boykins can bench like 300lbs, pretty incredible at that size.

I think it is more like 350. But his arms are so short it is not even a bench press. I watched him do it on the NBA show Ahmad Rashad use to have on NBC. He started taking the weight down and it was already coming back up. It was pretty funny. He was repping with 275 (2 plates and a 25 lb plate on both sides).

You watched something with Ahmad Rashad :WTF:

You don't remember that NBA show? It was the only NBA show going at the time. It was several years back when Boykins was a Clipper.

It also had that chick that now has her own show on ESPN. She's pretty hot. The tall one that was a swimmer...can't even think of her name. Summer Sanders or something like that.
