Samsung LN-S3251D Best Buy has it for $1200.00 this week. This is a pretty good price even compared to the Internet. On his recommendation I purchased one last week for the bedroom and the HD picture is stunning!!

That price is pretty steep. You could get a 42" panasonic plasma for that price. Whenever I am looking for deals I goto newegg . com or tigerdirect . com

they have great deals.

Plasma sucks though compared to LCD. I am staying in a hotel room with a 42" LG Plasma and the resolution even on the HD channels is nothing compared to my Sharp LCD at home. Unless you really spend up for a top of the line plasma I would highly suggest getting the LCD.

Yea, I was going to put tha tI prefer LCD, but I got lazy. My main screen at home is a 52" LCD... I got it about 4 years ago and it is still going strong. But plasmas still tend to be more pricey. Looking at tigerdirect I see a 32" LCD with a 1200:1 contrast ratio for $499, and newegg has some great deals too.. They have one with 1800:1 contrast ratio with a built in HD tuner for like $699.

Best thing to do is unless you really need one now is wait a bit. Most TVs sold will be 1080p, the best resolution, in about a year. What people think are deals right now will be rip-offs within 6 months. The 720p resolution just won't cut it anymore. Just FYI for those in the market. Buy something cheap now to hold you over if necessary.

The main thing is... most DirectTV receivers, or cable converters will give you the right resolution. Back when I bought my TV there were very few true 1080i tvs, and they were ridiculously priced. I have been very happy with it and the STB I have provides a very crisp picture...
