...forever and ever. I have a male cat who likes to urinate on the back of my couch. How do I get him to stop doing this? He has ruined 3 couches in 2 years. I can scrub the couches with bleach water and spray every spray available and you can't get rid of the stench of piss.

Someone please direct me on how to get rid of the smell or how to get the damn cat to stop pissing on the furniture. I love cats so I would hate to have to give him away to the Phillipino family next door who could use the meal suppliment.

listen, listen i hear pissin
where, where under the chair
run, run get the gun
too late, he's already done

Grab the cat by the neck and shove his head into the spot he pissed in so hard he suffocates to death. It lets the cat know you don't like when he pisses there plus the cat is dead. jmo

First, he needs to be neutered. He's doing this to mark his territory. Neutering may not stop him completely since it's a habit for him now, but it will cut down dramatically on the smell.

Use this stuff, too ... spray it on and he won't spray at it. He will probably find somewhere else in the house, tho, so it's only a measure to protect your furniture.

And try this stuff to get out the stench:

Good luck!

Every flavor and every type has been tried with no real success. The smell works its way back after a day or so.

he has been snipped since he was a kitten about 5 years ago.

Really? Have you had a vet see him about this, then? It usually indicates a bladder infection or something. How long has he been doing this?

He is marking his territory, but he has always been snipped. The odor remover doesn't work too well. I will give your first suggestion a try first and see if it keeps him off the furniture. He still uses the catbox, so hopefully he will keep off the furniture.

My current couch is being replaced. It was a nice imported leather couch that I paid 4k for about a year ago. I am hesitant to buy another couch until I either get rid of the problem or the cat. I have another cat and a small dog who are more polite.

2 different Vets have told me the same thing. They gave me these pellets to collect the urine, but he tested fine. He has been doing it most of his life as far as I know. It has been more frequent since I brought Chipper, my lil balck dog home a year ago.

Thats why the increase imo.
Had the same problem, the last straw was her pissing on my Cerwin-Vega speakers.
My cat did it more, when I added a third cat. Took it to the Vet and tried everything :hanging:

It's not piss. It's from the cat's scent gland and it smells worse than piss. My roommate had a cat and kept the sliding glass door open until a neighbor cat got in and marked his territory on a paper bag in my closet.

My roommate got some kind of spray that cats don't like. People can't smell it but cats avoid it. Ask the vet for Cat Be Gone spray or something like that.

He probably is stressed out by the dog.
