Trying to get into poker again but won't play unless I feel I have an EDGE against the competition. I know I have alot to learn but what is the #1 thing I need to work on? What seperates the winners from the losers?

Having a general craftiness, and remembering how lethal suited connectors can be and that small pots are usually won with large pocket pairs and large pots are often lost with those hands.

PATIENCE;;;;;

Before negranu became famous, he actually had a half hour conversation with me at the bellagio. Nice guy, his bottom line, rock solid answer to me was PATIENCE.....I ACTUALLY ASKED HIM THE SAME QUESTION AS YOU ARE POSTING IN THIS THREAD.

Just watch Rounders. Everything you need to know about poker is in that movie.

like don't overbet? Let the good percentage plays come to you and when you have an edge go for it?

the best way to learn is like I did. Baptism by fire in higher end stakes games. Held my own, learned a lot and now feel I can play a very solid poker game.

guts.....because a lot of the time we throw away the winning hand, just because someone made a over size bet...we panic and think they may have something...therefore we fold and probably would have won the hand...it happens all the time...so therefore if you have what you think is a good hand don't be left holding the bag...

A great poker player lays down a good hand when he's beat and executes the big bluff when the opponent is weak.

You must have a bankroll that will allow you to play your chosen stake as if you have not 1 bit of concern if you lose it all in 1 hand.

You must be TOTALLY unaffected mentally when that 1 hand is your AA vs J6..

People able to do both are 1 in millions thats why 98.9% of players are amatuers......and like me always will be no matter what the PokerStars ads say..lol
