you are at home you play for OT is the general rule in sports. Crowd on your side, you should win in extra quarter.

sure if the other team has not time left play for a tie at home. cool.

but they had a ton of time left. about 70% of NFL drives in that situation lead to a score or FG attempt. Terribe coaching but he is halfway to alabama anyway so he did not care. Made no sense to not give up a TD run on that first carry after the big Passing play.

coaches and players are so stupid sometimes.

I am not saying I agree with any of it, I was just answering the question from coaching sports 101 :puppy: . I posted the same thing about letting them score in Journeyman's thread 5 minutes ago

Your season is done anyways, you definitely go for it with nothing to lose at home.

Exactly!

I agree with Iceman if this were a meaningful game for Miami and they had to win this game. But in their situation, this was a spot where I had no doubt they would be going for it...well, I was wrong.

Disagree. Just cause you are out of it, doesn't mean you start doing crap you wouldn't otherwise do.

The play calling and that play was horrible by Saben. The field goal only tied the game and gave the Jets the ball with plenty of time to go. And that means that even if you make the field goal you are still NOWHERE.

Giving the Jets the ball in a tie game with more than 2 minutes is no an option if you only have 4 and 1 maybe 1 and a half. Bad Bad decision and makes him a very questionable coach.

Unless there isn't enough time left for the opposition to march down the field and win it you should always go for it. If you can't get 1/2 a yard in that situation you don't deserve to win.

Yes, should make that 18 inches at least 75% of the time.
