I would say less than 10% of squares are knowledgable about these type of sites..

I would say book managers 100%..Like being on Wall Street and reading the Journal..

Players who are knowledgable about the business..85%..

The threads relating to Betus are the perfect example..Forum readers knock the book daily..The average player, signs up not realizng the books shortcomings..

IT's somewhere around 1% give or take 1% LOL. (I'm not kidding) The % of gamblers that come on these forums is very low.

HENCE GREAT POTENTIAL FOR EVEN MORE GROWTH. I ask gamblers daily if they have heard of this forum or others. Very very rare for them to know about these forums.

Polls show that Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to a federal ban on Internet gambling. Industry experts estimate that some 15-20 million Americans wager online each year.

as crazy as it may seem i think 5team is right on with his post, most if not all of the gamblers i know think the rx is something they pick up at eckards every three or four weeks. the upside potential for growth in the forum business is huge imo, another explanation as to why so many now exist.

I was gambling online for years, before I found the forums, and it took a dispute with a bookie to do that.

I'm going with 1-2%

In saying that why wouldnt TheRx (or any other major forum for that matter) not want to market the forums more? It doesnt have to be much maybe a small 1/4 page ad in a magazine or something like that.

I would think it would be a win/win/win situation by getting the books more shine as well as the industry (therefore getting favor from the general public perception of the industry as a whole).

I would say 1%.I had no idea this forum existed until the BOS saga. Then I started searching all over the internet to find out WTF was going on with BOS.
I had plenty of gambling friends who had never heard of this site.Had I known about this site, I may have been advised by the forums to send my money to a better sportsbook.

Good thinking, Ironman_8. I would imagine it all boils down to whether the major forums have the resources and the budget to advertise (and btw, where exactly were you suggesting they advertise to? Sports Illustrated? Washington Post --as if, LOL--? Seriously, I'm just not sure where is a great print/online media for theRX to go to?)

Honestly, you did hit a nail on the head about how this industry would benefit from more accountability and how fellow gamblers can provide excellent advice to one other, just like how people discuss online about the stock market (are there even forums for stock market, I'm sure, but I don't know of major ones... so there lies my point...)

Then, finally, the United States can pull "our ostrich head" out of the ground and simply regulate this great investment industry. :)

Thanks for the response Calvin.

Actually TheRx could do something similiar to what a lot of the larger books do like CRIS and what BOS used to do by send out the fluff magazines with some statfox info and their "Top 5 sportbooks". I mean someone can just put in a full page ad in one of those and get the point across. Shoot some of the lower end books (but still reputable) could assist with the costs and they come out golden.

The industry is going to have to start thinking out of the box to get it to the "next level" and this would get the ball rolling in that manner. I would love to see what Rick or some of the mods would say on this matter.

I wouldn't spread the word that these forums exist. If 100% of gamblers knew about sites like these, there would be A LOT more winners. Too much winning is not good for the sportsbooks. Keep in mind, we recieve our winnings for losing gamblers.

This may seem outrageous, but it is true. The less people that know about these forums, the better.

I would say 1-5%, and that's only of US\Canadian players.

Worldwide? Minimal, very minimal

I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree with this. More knowledge does not always correlate into more winners. As I type, a lot of people (including myself) loved the under in the UCLA/FSU under. Now unless the Bears/Ravens defense shows up that ain't happening.

These forums are like going into the Library of Congress and picking and choosing what information to use and HOW to use it. Granted you may have winning plays from the NBA forum but what about money management? MM doesn't exactly come naturally to the beginning or novice bettor at all.

If you notice, combine the NBA, College Basketball and NFL forum posts and you will get close to what the Offshore forum so that means that people here care about how ABC book is, do they pay, how fast; etc (yeah I know there is random bullshyt in this particular forum but work with me here).

I guess you're looking at the sharing of ideas as so far as picking and I'm looking at the sharing of information about how a sports-book operates.
