if some idiot buys a TV for 1500 that you can get for 500 bucks that does not mean that you should now pay 1500 for the same TV
The Owner should have told Boras if you wanna compare contracts look at Roy Oswalt. He is younger and better and making less. It works both ways.
These owners can not help themseles and they never learn. If you take a look at all contacts of 5 years or higher in the last 15 years how many have actully worked out every year? The only 2 I can think of are jeter and Manny Ramierez. And Boston still wants to trade him every year, then turn around and sign worthless JD Drew to a huge contract. Half the time the team wants to release the clown they singed a year or 2 into it.
It alteast used to be good players getting these contracts. Gil Meche Teddy Lilly, Sexson and Beltre (one great season and nothing else before or since) get huge multi year deals and leave the owners wondering where they went wrong.These idiots need to stop givng these long contracts out and look in the mirror once in a while instead of blaming Steinbrener for everything.
