I still believe there's no weaker line to target than the haltime line...

I'd be willing to bet the majority of the people wagering would do much better if they waited til halftime.

Everytime I start a discussion on this it gets little response though.

I always bet halftimes,I'd say 90% of my plays have been HT plays for the NBA.Nothing better than making money in less than 1 1/2 hours.

I agree with you. From what I understand they simply use a chart based on the closing line and the score to come up with the half time price. I'd really like to see the chart or know how they figure what the line is going to be. I think if you had that you could possiby do some damage.

Its not that straight forward as while to the books its another Bet, they will be aware of punters positions on the Game and skin up any hedging situation. if your on the other side then your probably getting value. :drink:

I bet nothing but Quarters and HT bets (1st and 2nd H). Love dogs and unders for these plays. Dont really have a system that will predict a game that I should wager on...just go by the seat of my pants and do quite well at this.

I cant stand waiting 2 to 3 hours just to find out if I won...also makes the games more enjoyable for me.

One thing for sure is you will have a HUGE variation of lines, it is very common to find scalps or middles at 1/2 time if you have a variety of books to choose from....

the end result, is you can almost bet the game VIG FREE by shopping..... much harder for books to keep up with each other during the short half time.......

There are alot of games i have an opinion on and dont bet, then i reevaluate the value at the half and that can be very profitable....

that is true and I have noticed thius as well, but you can also bet it at another place....this is where the money is made, anyone not looking into HT wagering is not thinking very hard....especially in basketball compared to the game line!

Why bet a basketball game before you see the first half ?

very good points, and this is my thoughts exactly....books are somewhat forced to post a line based off of the game line....there's very little time to re-evaluate (if any at all) if there's a system that might work it would be here...

I also believe you can combine a side and total bet at HT to give yourself a much better shot at 2-0 or at worst 1-1 much easier than you can on a game bet....at the very least increase the odds.

I have the outs available to me that I can bet H2 of like 75% of NBA games. I get in my head which way I want to go, see where CRIS opens, look at Pinny, observe the movement for about a minute, then bet it elsewhere ( often parlayed). If it's a straight over I sometimes even bet it at Pinny, but often I get the over 93, that's -116, at the equivelant of -105.

I often take the over at the half, if I go under it's usually dog and under parlay (NBA).

I love H2 bets, personally !

Heres a system. See what side Pinnacle has heavy juice on and thats the halftime play. Check it out, has to be like this or heavier..

Piston -4 (-117)

Bucks +4 (+103)

Works for sides and totals...

Pistons would be the play...it probably hits around 63-64%

63% is high, but you have the right idea !

Do you use these numbers also?

Perfect example. Last week, Eagles vs Cowboys. Halftime line at Pinnacle was

Philly +5 -123

Dallas -5 +107

Dallas was down by six. Line made no sense, and they WANTED you to take Dallas. What happened? Philly wins the 2nd half by 14. 19 if you count the points!

I do a similar system as Gas Man but you can definitely find better odds than the -11x at other books, usually at -105 if the odds at Pinny is +103. Base on my recorded plays, this play is hitting close to 63% after 26 plays.

How long have you been using this system, 26 plays over how long a period?

I don't bet something just because Pinny has -115, and I can get -105 elsewhere, but I certainly bet it at that place that has -105, if it fits my other criteria.

sample size is lacking, all this proves is you need other outs beyond Pinny, because you'll pay too much at Pinny for this side... nothing more, nothing less !

Here are the numbers on the current game.

My play? BC -5...lets track this today. No opinion on the total, opened at 24 -105

Its easy to see why 2nd half plays get little response. In NFL we have the whole week to discuss the line and line movement while a 2nd half play is so ephemeral its gone inside 10-15 minutes.

What I would like to know is how to tell when a team that dominates the first half will will continue its prowess compared to when its opponents wake up. Look at yesterday, Minnesota was 35-7 first half then 3-31 in the second before the OT loss. Obviously the Texas Tech bettors who waited until halftime did much better than the whole game bettors, but they looked so bad at halftime who would play them?
