If it wan't for gambling I wouldn't pay 1 second of attention to any of this and the worst part is I consider myself a HUGE football fan. I keep thinking this can't worse each year and it does.

One day (hopefully soon) when a playoff happens we will all look back at this crap and laugh on how stupid this was.

Everyone loves tradition a little in sports but I can't imagine anyone preferring this crap over a playoff. Please excuse me I am going to go puke now!!!

I was just thinking today that before I had a bookie I never watched college football.

Was thinking about a time I was in Tahoe on New Years Day and was playing the ponies in the racebook while hearing all the cheering in the sportsbook next door.

But the next day I was all over the sportsbook betting the NFL playoff games.

theres no passion or heart in the pros...its disgusting..just a bunch of overpaid idiots, playing whenever they feel like it.....the tradition, the true rivals, the passion, the pageantry, etc makes college football special

i dont like the bowls and if a playoff ever comes to pass, it will be sick

like all sports, if you dont have a good horse in the race, or you didnt go to a college, or whatever, it's just not the same

as an example...if you graduated from Michigan, i just dont see how you can prefer Lion games

i'm betting that anyone who doesnt like college football is because they have no interest, such as they didnt go to college, or their team sucks like Montana

Like it a lot........and enjoy attending any bowl game when I get the oppurtunity.

Have enjoyed every bowl game tremendously that I have ever attended..........not to mention the hundreds viewed on TV.

Would a playoff bring even more excitement.......possibly and probably.

Still this is great stuff........all one has to do is look at the fans at these games and one can see how much they are into it.

Just got back from the ALAMO BOWL, and even the fans of TEXAS were very excited and tremendously enthusiastic before, during, and after the game playing against a 6-6 Hawkeyes team..........needless to say, the Iowa fans were equally the same and actually more.

Fisher,
Serious question. Can you drink alcohol at bowl games? I know you can't at college campuses in the stadium but what about at college games at pro stadiums? Does anyone know? Just curious

Exactly.

A playoff system would be nice, but we don't have it so I really enjoy Bowl Season.

The one thing I don't like is undeserving teams going to bowls. They have added way too many bowls which allows mediocre teams to move on. This is great from a betting standpoint, but horrible from a fan perspective.

Yes, if the stadium is not on a college campus, beer can by sold.

I have bought beer at the ROSE BOWL, CAPITAL ONE BOWL, OUTBACK BOWL, and the ALAMO BOWL to name just a few.

IOWA fans usually win the "beers per fan" at their bowl games.

In fact, the UNofficial fight song for Iowa is "IN HEAVEN THERE IS NO BEER, THAT'S WHY WE DRINK IT HERE".

Bowl games are the most overrated thing in all of sport. Games mean nothing. What does the winner get ? NOTHING I have no interest in Coll Football after thanksgiving weekend. Michigan is # 2 in the country but there game means nothing in the Postseason. How can that be ?

How exciting would it be if the top four game winners advanced to play, with the winners there advancing to a true National Championship game.

Eight teams and their fans would still have a chance instead of 2 or in the case of this year, one. The kids are on Christmas break, so it wouldnt be a "burdon" on their studies. Get rid of one of those stupid preseason $$ games and add some serious $$$$$ games to the end of the year.

Damn, who got me fired up...

Playoffs would be the best and are needed. Bowl season is still great though. ANd we got some more biggies to go.

What do you mean by biggies ? Outside of Ohio St game these are all exhibition games to say the least. What does the winner get outside of a pat on the back. No reason to watch them if you don't have action. And personally I don't wager very many of these games just like I don't wager on NFL exhibition or MLB exhibition.

I just don't know whether every team is giving it their all. These are all exhibition games and I feel some of the players play accordingly.

Definitely not on par with Conference Tourneys and March Madness..where many games come short.

This has been a rather dull Bowl Season to date.

I much preferred it when it was all dogs pre-New Years, then about 3 or 4 of the Top 5 meatgrinders generally rolled on the 1st..then the tide turned a few years back.

Lately, a bit old school NFL-esque, pick the winner..pointspreads not as involved.
