And it says it will debut in 2008. Nothing more specific than that. The rest of it is specs.

you want a motorcycle with an automatic transmission ? Sounds like a giant moped, but I don't remember the French I took in HS too good.

Honda has just presented this year at the living room of Tokyo its new motor bike, the Honda E4-01 which one also can designer as a scooter since it is a mixture very successful between a large motor bike and a large scooter. Moreover, it is classified in the row of the WP! A scooter WP... The E4-01 news received an esthetics, elegant, sporting and very homogeneous giving has this one a futuristic and sporting look. As for the motorization, this Honda news will be equipped with a four-cylinder motor of 903cm3 has automatic transmission. According to the tests, this new motor bike or rather this new scooter has an impressive power and its control is very pleasant but also very easy especially downtown. The Honda E4-01 remains for the moment a prototype but its marketing will have to begin in 2008.

Rough translation:

Honda has just launched its new E4-01, which is half-moto, half-scooter. It is even ranked in the GT category! A GT scooter...

The new E4-01 looks futuristic, elegant and sporty. On the engine side, this new Honda will be equipped with a 903cc 4-cyl w/ an automatic transmission.

Tests reveal that this new moto-scooter is plenty powerful, fun to ride and city-friendly.

As of right now, the Honda E4-01 is still a prototype but it will be produced and sold beginning in 2008.

This bike was introduced along with the DN-01

Bike pictured above is the one i am interested in because it uses some of the same technology the scooter uses.

Regarding the moped comments, its only here in america where scooters are derided so much.

And because of dolts like you guys, we have been stuck in the same stonage thinking that to this day has prevented the development of auto transmission bikes.

It totally befuddles me how myopic and narrow minded manufacturers can be in this day and age. I have dated two girls who all simply refuse to ride
the typical bike, but both of them loved a Suzuki burgman i took them for a ride on.
burgman_400.jpg

Above is the Burgman.

Before you say then scooters are for girls, i will quickly point out, both these girls really wanted to ride But they will not get on a manual bike for nothing. I tried to teach both of them on my katana but they werent having none of it. Matter of fact they couldnt understand why there are no sports bikes that are auto. (outside of some recently released yamaha which isnt really auto-tran.) I have several friends who have jumped on the burgman loved it even if they have never ridden. Infact i lent it to a friend of mind for a weekend and her roomate simply was all over it yet he had never ever ridden a bike in his life. He also refuses to take classes and always hated bikes, but he says he would buy an auto-transmission bike if it ever hit the market.

Simply do a google search in forums and see how many people would die to get their hands on a bike like the DN-01.

There is a very very huge market of these new age kids who have zero hangups about trying to look tough with bone head vietnam war vet ideals about having the need to change gears just to enjoy a bike ride. I am simply stunned that automatic bikes are just making a comeback to the market in the year 2007..

Anyways, the Dn01 wont even appear in America until 2010 or some where out there But i plan on importing one of these regardless. You wont catch me on some 600 pound hog blowing out every ones ears on my sunday ride..(Unless yamaha makes a bigger push for automatic bikes. They have one kinda auto matic but they dont market it that way)

Me, i am tired of sports bikes because i have a bad back. I simply cant ride it for more than an hour before i am pain or ride sitting upright which is just wrong for on a sportsbike. Give me a cruiser like like the Dn01 and i am home sweet home.

What is the average age of death for people who ride these things? I have seen a couple of accidents which would have been bumps and bruises if these guys were in cars, but probably brought out white sheets instead. One time in Philly I saw a guy on a bike a few cars in front of me going on an overpass. Car in front braked, he braked, but guy behind him braked too late. Probably hit the biker at 15 mph or less, but it was enough to send the bike into the rail and then the biker over the overpass. He probably fell 30 feet onto another freeway, but hell I will never know. Haunting stuff to see a minor fender bender turn into that.

Thats partly the reason some of my friends wont get on a manual bike. It is doubly dangerous to ride around on a manual than an automatic. Instead of trying to remember which gear you are in or down shifting or crap like that you would be concentrating on traffic..

For example that guy who got rear ended at 15mph, there is no way that happens to him if he has those extra seconds wasted on down shifting.

If he was on an auto- tran, his eyes would have been on this rear view mirror instead and he would have seen the car coming up behind him and probably gotten out of the way with a simple flick of the wrist.

Thats my big thing about changing gears and riding in a society that is so off tuned to bikers, you literally spend half your ride making sure that people in cars can see you..I dont need to be worried about other crap like what gear i am in. Riding bikes is dangerous enough, i know because i have taken a tumble or two. I am not one of those wanna be tough bikers too stupid too take advantage of a bike that is 10 times safer than anything on the road right now.

As soon as it comes out, i am selling my katana and rocking that bitch!!! I dont care if i have import it from japan. (thats why i am looking for as much info on bikes related to this one.)

funny ass clip of a guy getting totally wiped off the earth by some crazy lady driver....

If you can listen to the sound, you can tell this guy was probably too busy changing gears instead of looking to his left for the typical cage driver who simply cant see a biker for some reason or other.

I dont think that could have happened to me because i simply dont go through intersections like that.

What do you think of the way bikers drive in California, going in between the lanes? I have a buddy who rode Harleys and he just shook his head about it. He refused to do it when he went down there from Vegas, but said all those guys going 40 in between cars when traffic was slow must have death wishes.

to each his own...

I think if you are riding a bike you should be allowed to lane split. I only ride on weekends and some times i end up in those serious traffic jams where you are moving at like 3 miles an hour then coming to a stop.

If i have to, i will split lanes to get out of traffic..(But i sure as hell wont be doing 40 mph...i would cruise along about about 20-25 miles or even less depending on conditions then get out of the log jam.)
