Can anyone in there right mind, say with a straight face, that a team like LSU does not have the right to play for a NATIONAL TITLE?

This is the very thing keeping me from making COLLEGE FOOTBALL my favorite sport.

Its a great game on the field, but ruined by idiots.

No, they are idiots, even though they are money hungry, they are too dumb to realize that they would make even more money with a playoff.

Let me make a clear point about my first post.

By me saying that LSU deserves a chance to play for the National title, that does not mean that I think that LSU is the only team that deserves to play for the title.

Flordia deserves to play in the big game just as much as LSU.

I think they should take the top 8 teams.

This is not meant to be a slight on FLORDIA, MICHAGAN, USC, BOISE ST etc.......

We could still have a playoff, and the bowls..... just make each bowl, one playoff game. The BCS games could be the semi-finals. They'd still make a killing, and it could all be completed in the month of December and first week of Jan.

No reason at all to opposed a 16 or even 8 team playoff.

I would be opposed to a 16 game playoff. 8 teams would work but would prefer a 6 team format with the top 2 seeds getting byes or 4 team playoff.

The reasoning:

College Football has the greatest regular season in all of sports. Every game is like a playoff game, because one loss demorilizes your chances of winning a championship. The beginning of the season is as good as the middle of the season which is as good as the end of the season.

A 16 game playoff would ruin some of this. Would anybody have cared about Arkansas/Florida, USC/UCLA or Michigan/Ohio St with a 16 game playoff? Probably not because the games would have likely only affected seeding. However, because of the current system in place...these games were like playoff games.

While I agree the current system isnt ideal, it does keep the regular season excitement to the max. Would I prefer a 4 or 6 team playoff, absolutely. But 8 or especially 16 games would really take away from the regular season excitement.

I can respect that. I just figure the more post-season games, the more it will be appealing to the Presidents. I think the rivalry games will still be important, for seeding purposes. However, I won't argue that it won't deminish the prestige of those hi-profile rivalry games. I guess either way, it won't be perfect. I'll settle for better, for now!

Disagree. It's not like you can lose 3 games and make playoffs(prefer16 like 1aa where the play is significantly better as playoffs deepen --same would happen in 1a) Also, shorten reg season to 11 games with no 1AA games. Believe season would be as exciting--maybe more so down the stretch. Example is Big East this year as all contenders undefeated down stretch and the firts loser was basically out of any chance stretch. With 16 team playoff lVille(for example) would have great incentive to continue to win out and perhaps get selected. .02

Yes, I am in my right mind by saying any team that has lost 2 games does not deserve a national championship shot. Hell they didn't even come close to winning their own conference.

I don't agree with this way of thinking.. Teams peak at a certain time of the year, LSU had a rough rough schedule, No way Ohio St comes out of that schedule undefeated..

LSU is the real deal man and just cause they lost 2 games they could of easily won IMO doesn't make them unworthy..

We need a PLAYOFF BAAAD!!

I posted here a few times during the season that LSU imho was and is the best team in college football. Will also say I flopped with my thoughts about Michigan.

Last night they threw ND around like blocking dummies.

Key to SEC teams getting to title game is schedule and of course some lucky bounces, as its very tough to run the table in that league.

Crowning a national champion via a playoff is way OVERrated...........would it be better, probably.

Not that big of deal.

Enjoy the bowl season......it's awesome.......especially attending them in person.

CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!

The National Championship is a season title. How can you ignore any of the 10-12 games that make up a season? LSU is certainly playing at a high level. You still can't ignore the 2 hiccups along the way. It is what you do during the regular season that gets you a title shot.

ncaa division 1aa, div.2 and div.3 football has a 16 team playoff system in place each year. it is so simple and the champion wins it on the field. what a concept!

I'd like to see a 6 team playoff but really lose no sleep over this whole thing anyway.

As long as somebody hangs a line and I have an out or two for the bowl games, all this other stuff is just secondary and overhyped. I care more about Jones' bankroll than I do about who is the National Champion. Can't believe how many of you guys get so emotional about this stuff.

LSU shouldn't have a shot at it IMO. Yea they are currently one of the best teams but beating an overrated ND doesn't do much for me. They knew they had to win out or lose just once to make it there when this season started and still lost twice. Although they have improved, a two-loss team that knew what it takes doesn't deserve a shot. Ohio St, Boise St, Florida, and possibly USC or Michigan deserved a shot at it all.
