Would you allow your kids to gamble?

I'm single right now but I had this conversation with my mom yesterday. She knows I made a pretty decent amount last year gambling but she forbids me to teach my future kids how to gamble. Her reasoning is that even though I might be successful but it's inevitable that my future kids will become compulsive degenerates and gamble away all of our family wealth.

I'm curious what your takes are on this issue? Would you allow/teach your kid/future kid to gamble? If yes, how would you go about teaching your kid (learn the lesson the hard way or showing them the ropes on how to be successful)?

already teaching my kid how to play poker.

I have seen so many friends gamble and lose their shirt because they had no idea what they were doing. I don't care if my kids gamble or not, but if they do i wantt them to be prepared.

Yes it is very important to learn early otherwise down the road the course could get VERY EXPENSIVE!!

Hell yeah I am going to teach my kids. Why wouldn't you? You wouldn't be hiding anything they will do it with or without you.

You have the right idea.

Teach the seeds to be good at sports. But please, keep them away from poker.

Fro11, sure you can. It's not rocket science, you just have to put in the time and effort to visit good forums and read as much as you can from the sharp posters at those forums.

But I can see how my original post was abit condescending. Thanks for pointing that out.

sorry sir, i do not have the time to waste away all day on forums or doing a ton of research. i have a family, job and a life. not enough time in the day for me. i do enjoy gambling and have my streaks like anyone.
you can cap a game as perfect as you want to think but a bad bounce here or there and you are losing money.
just seems to me everyone on here brags about making X amt of cash from gambling)not just you). if that were the case online shops would be out of business. lol

People cannot be taught how to gamble. Some things have to be learned via experience.

Besides, kids dont listen to their parents. In fact, they usually do the opposite what their parents tell them.

If you want them to have certain ideas pertaining to gambling have uncle bud or one of your friends tell them.

My dad taught me to hustle others playing pool when I was a teenager.

Paid my tuition, eventually.

So, yeah. I'll teach my kids to gamble.

My parents taught me the value of money and how to drink at an early age. I had my first beer at 12..the nastiest fucking thing ever. They told me I was gonna start drinking with my friends later on so they rather teach me how to drink now before I start taking carbombs and shit. They just wanted me to be prepared for what was gonna come.

With that in mind, I will also teach my kids how to play poker and bet on sports. I rather prepare them early on how to cut losses rather than chase and die.
