Not that there were any HORRIFIC calls, but Seattle got every break from the refs. I feel better knowing there is some justice for last yr's Super Bowl highway robbery

That may have been the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my short life, that ref should be bagging groceries in an IGA somewhere.

On second thought, I take my original statement back. IT doesn't even come close to making up for the absolute disgrace the officiating was in that game. Made me sick

Nothing comapres to last years Super Bowl, NFL needs to add a * to that Super Bowl someday

Seattle Weekly headline said it best last year
-------------------------------------------
The Refs, Too, Were Stealers

A memorable Seahawks season ends with a forgettable game as the Pittsburgh Zebras win Super Bowl XL.

By Mike Henderson

The final score of Super Bowl XL — Pittsburgh 21, Seattle 10 — will remain etched in the collective mind of local fandom for eternity, pending the inevitable Tim Eyman-led referendum to
overturn the outcome.

If that were to happen, it's still likely the game refs
would find a reason to give it back to Pittsburgh.
The officials handed it to the Steelers on nearly every occasion.

The offensive pass interference call on Sea that negated a TD, most ticky tack BS EVER. And then giving Ben the TD. Both crap.

How about the phantom holding call that nullified a touchdown.

The one where the lineman was hooking so they say.

The NFL were p ussy's; about the whole thing.

Holgrem bad mouthed the officials at a rally days later.

The NFL threatened to fine him and then never ever mentioned it again as they just wanted the whole debacle to go away!

The BEST place to go to see bad officiating is a Hawai'i home game - its unbelievable. The back judge in the Super Bowl would be the best of the lot.

If anyone watched the Michigan State-Hawaii game a few years back, they will know what I mean.

That's why I miss Tang's posts and his crusade against the Hawaii midnight BS.

Any gambling junkie knows you can cap the absolute piss out of that game, you can know everything about it and it still will not matter.

Tons of bad calls

Superbowl XL a disappointment because of bad calls

Superbowl XL: Steelers over Seahawks. 21 to 10.

Bill Leavy, head referee hosed the complete game. Every single call was against the Seahawks including the key plays. In three of four plays, only one was overturned because there was no way to call it in favor of the Steelers.

What's most amusing is that with the last minute left, the Seahawks would have been down just four points if Bill Leavy and his staff was being fair about his calls. If I was Holmgren, I'd be pissed as hell.

This game would have been one to remember, even if the Seahawks lost 21 to 17. Both teams played great.

The truly screwy calls.
 • First quarter: Offensive pass interference for Seahawks instead of TD. (ABC Sports crew consisting of former players even called that a truly messed up call).
 • Ben Roethlisberger's TD in second quarter. That didn't even come close to the line. You can tell, in any scenario. If you don't believe me... blow up the picture and extend the goal lines vertically.
 • Third quarter. Fumble by Hasslebeck. (was overturned after a challenge by the Hawk's bench was called)
 • Fourth quarter. Tackle by Hasslebeck brought a 15 yard penalty. Even John Madden was amazed at that call. For a quarterback, it's totally legit to tackle below the knees, it's just not legit for a blocker.
