I have a Verizon DSL Router in my entertainment room where my PS3 is. This is also set up as a wireless network. It plugs directly into my PS3 though. My PS3 connection is shitty when I Play sports games, very choppy. It seems fine when I play call of duty 3 online. Also, when I have my laptop in there, wireless seems to get disconnected for like 30 seconds once every 2 hours or something. highly annoying. This is 2007, Madden should not be choppy. hopefully someone knows how to fix this. Thanks

it could be the router or it could be that the dsl just isnt fast enough for the gameplay

looks like it is on EA's end. You have to love paying $600 for a game system in 2007, and EA Sports can't even get the online Madden working properly, very poor.

i have madden for ps3 and im hooked into my router i use cable so very fast. I would say out of every 10 games i play 4 are premium speed 4 are playable and 2 are like playing on dialup. I also have the problem of when finding games the other player doesnt show up i tried forwarding my ports on my router and it still didnt fix it. I would have thought that ps3 would have great servers and spped but i guess not. Fun game when the connection is good. I would suggest not using wireless just because if you do get disconeected for that little bit then you lose the connection to the game and that can be really frustrating

matt do you have problems when finding a quick game your opponent will not show up. I get that probably 50 percent of the time they say it is a problem with the router but i tried what they said and it didnt work. Really frustrating

the only way i can get into a game is to create a session. Then sometimes after the coinflip, it says connection to the opponent lost. last night it was unreal laggy bad. It actually worked fine for the first game, but of course I got kicked after the first half.

yeah pisses me off main reason for buying ps3 was for madden. ps2 madden is way smoother. I dont understand how you come out with a popular game and do not have it working correct on the best system out there(supposebly)

dsl is not nearly as fast as cable. in 90% of markets.

dsl wireless is slower than dsl-connected / no wireless, only cables

dsl wireless + router = dsl wireless

it's not on EA's end. I work with consoles and internet connectivity more often than I should - I've seen every connection, every setup, every speed issue known to man. there are plenty of resources online to use to figure out a fix. again though, it's not on EA's end.

my setup is cable modem - straight into xbox. nothing in between, no router, no wireless, on comcast's quick 7mb down and about 1 meg up.

you should be checking your speeds

speakeasy.com/speedtest

post them in this thread. anything below 2 meg download and 312k upload is a poor connection for gaming.

as for random disconnects - make sure the firmware in your router is up to date, make sure your line doesn't have this problem normally. mess around the website dslreports.com for advice, tips, and other non-speed test issues you can mess around with to identify the issue. I personally will not wirelessly game only because of where I work - and how important mantaining xbox/console connectivity is. in a perfect world you would have your system hard wired - with an outlet behind the tv. that's the most consistent, and fastest way to play online whether it be ps3 or xbox. wireless technology has taken some big steps over the past year or so - but it's still not as secure as the boring old ethernet cable.

good luck.

I got DSL and use wireless with my PS3....Madden seems to work fine. I do have the issue where sometimes the other team doesnt show up...but once in the game, everything is fine. Not choppy at all.

I am not using wireless for my ps3. The router goes directly into my PS3. I only use wireless with my laptop, but off that same router.

I looked on a lot of sites today and almost everyone was having problems with EA games. I only have problems with Madden and Figth Night, no problems with Call of Duty or Fall of Man. btw, Madden is working great rigit now.

What kind of wireless are you running if you know 80.11 a/b or the newer 80.11 g/n connection. A/B wireless connections typically suck for online gaming because a) there not all that fast and b) there can be interference with your cordless phone and or microwave.

One more thing matt - reset your router before you utilize it. I would say reset your cable modem, but you don't have cable.

I think I'm just going to get another cable modem and put that in the entertainment room and use it for the PS3.

matt it is a ea game problem or sony problem trust me on that. People have very fast connections for the ps3 i dont even think dialup is allowed. All maddden forums are complaining of the same problems. I never had these problems playing on ps2
