I'm going to type up a "remote access" primer when I get a few minutes over the next day or so and post it in the tech forum. In light of the Pinny announcement today, however, this is something you should be aware of. If you want to go to the trouble of opening a foreign bank account you need to do it right, and this is the way to do it.
Remote access basically allows you to operate any computer via the Internet as if you were sitting right in front of it. I use it daily, primarily to access my home computer via my laptop. That way I don't need to keep syncing everything back and forth. I can sit at my local espresso bar, log in to my home computer and send emails, surf the web, and even put on music for my dogs to listen to.
The beautiful thing is that unlike anyonyimzers and other proxy servers, your Internet "footprints"--IP addresses and the like--are just like they would be if you were physically there.
So here's the plan--find a friend in a foreign country who's willing to help you out. Get your banking and whatever else you need to do set up in that country. Then buy him a computer. Actually, buy yourself a computer that will reside at his physical location. All he'll need to do is make sure its plugged in and that the Internet connection is working. All other maintenance can be done from your end. Then log in via remote access, and wager to your hearts content. As long as you do everything this way you'll have the correct IP addresses on all your 'net transactions everything will be hunky dory.
There's a number of remote access services out there--GoToMyPC is probably the biggest and best known, but I use a couple of other services. The two I'm going to recommend actually offer free service, though you may or may not want to pony up for their premium offerings.
My primary remote access service is logmein.com. Their basic service is free--you just need to install their client on your computer (which I guess is something else your expat "friend" will need to do for you). Then you go to their website, log in and your computer desktop--whever it may be--will magically appear.
I've just started using the product from a newer company called IRemotePC. Their client is a little buggier at the moment (since they're a recent startup) but offers much richer features than logmein. Same deal--you install their client on the PC you want to access and then you can log in from anywhere with Internet access. Their website is https://www.iremotepc.com
Obviously a lot of this might be too much of a hassle for a small recreational player, but if you're going to go to the trouble of setting up a foreign identity and bank account make sure you don't mess it up my accessing websites incorrectly....
