who are they going to get to watch these shitty Sunday and Monday night NFL dogshit games and who is going to tune in to these dreary TNT NBA broadcasts? And how are they going to fill the empty seats at the football stadiums and NBA games? Holy shit, would interest in these weak products drop off without gambling.

If they killed off offshore gambling entirely--which will be exceedingly difficult with or without Pinny in the game--people will still bet on sports. People have been betting on sports for as long as there's *been* sports. Al Gore made it easier and more convienent by inventing the Internet, but they were doing it long before that....

My point is that the NFL and NBA's popularity is shit without gambling being involved with the games.

I've been watching shitty games before offshore got hot.
My locals are over 2 hours away from me now-which is now an inconvenience and barely local, not to mention one of them has a nickel limit and he won't allow any action on -28 or higher. He's been around forever and he has always been a little bitch.
There will definately be a fairly large drop off in TV audiences-on most second halves of games that are over to the average, non-gambling viewer.

It will just mean more action for local bookmakers and more action out in Vegas. The games will go on, the betting will still go on.

Yeah, in a hypothetical sense if you were to eliminate sports gambling the entire sports/media conglomerate in the US would definitely suffer. No one would watch shitty NFL/NBA games, and ratings for sports TV networks like ESPN would plummet. I don't know anyone who watches ESPN News regularly that isn't a sports gambler....

Only people who used gamble or will be gambling in the near, foreseeable future.

You have to think that TV Networks do NOT like this. They HAVE to be paying attention to this.

One thing's for sure, the ratings will plummet for those UGLY Big 10 games. I'm also pretty sure people wouldn't of tuned into a Pistons vs. D-league Hornets team on a Thursday night. The only sport I'd continue to watch is hockey.

Considering Full House reruns probably currently outperform Hockey ratings, the NHL may cease to exist in March.

If I have to leave gambling, I think I'll go work for Dog the Bounty-hunter. He rules.

If our freakin government was smart, instead of forcing sports betting into illegal channels, they would figure out a way to legalize this and tax the revenues. Why not let any US based casinos operate on-line sports books, and figure out a way to split up the tax revenues among the states and make everyone happy. Our wonderful representatives at work.....bunch of dumbasses.....
