Ice storm could prevent Big 12 matchup
Andy Katz, ESPN:
An ice storm prevented Oklahoma State from getting to Lincoln, Neb., Friday, forced the game time to move from Saturday afternoon to evening and may end up postponing the game entirely.
Oklahoma State, originally scheduled to play at Nebraska in the noon hour Saturday, couldn't get out of Oklahoma City and spent the entire day at the airport, waiting to see if it could take off on its charter. But the ice storm that hit the area prevented the Cowboys from leaving, according to assistant coach James Dickey.
Dickey said that if the Cowboys can't get out by 1 p.m. CT Saturday, then the game won't be able to go off Saturday night at 7. He said Oklahoma State coach Sean Sutton and Nebraska coach Doc Sadler were in constant discussions Friday about the Cowboys' travel progress. Oklahoma State was originally scheduled to charter out of Stillwater but the storm made the team travel to Oklahoma City to fly to Nebraska. They never left.
The Big 12 would be involved in any decision Saturday about when the game would be played if the Cowboys can't get into Lincoln on the day of the game. Oklahoma State (15-2, 1-1) is coming off a loss at Kansas while Nebraska (11-4, 0-1) lost its Big 12 opener to Iowa State.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma (9-5, 1-1) barely got out Friday for Austin for Saturday's game against Texas (12-3, 2-0). The Sooners were able to get out and made it to Texas safely for the game, but they are preparing like they won't be able to make it home Saturday night.
