I noticed I get these little tiny ants in any product i have in my kitchen cabinet that is dry and sugary. I saw them get into packets of individual oatmeal. I saw them in pancake flour. I saw them on the outside of my open Jello box. They're annoying!!!

They're really tiny. Almost like a yellow. Much smaller thank a grain of rice. Almost like a small piece of dust. I think they're ants but I'm not sure.

Anyways, anyone know of a way to get rid of them besides just spraying them? Little worried about that because the cabinets hold food.

Thanks.

Get some CINNNAMON and a little water to form a paste.

Get some empty bottle caps and put the paste in that and place in your cabinets...........this should kill them in time.

Just buy those ant traps, they are like 3 bucks and are little 'houses" that hold poison (food), they take it back to colony and then poof, all gone....

Another great natural remedy is BORAX...........but this is better used for roaches.

Benny lock/secure all foods, and get the raid ant/house/dome. The ants carry the food back to the queen, killing her, not allowing her to lay thousands of eggs. DO NOT kill the ants with a spray, they will only come back. Must get rid of QUEEN. OH and you have to let those pests wanderer around for awhile. Do not kill them when you have the bait set. Let them eat and bring the food/poison back to the queen.

these things work in no time.

i don't think you have ants though.i know what you have by the way you described it but cannot think of the name right now.if you were to kill one it should be a blood spot.

you mentioned rice and i think it has something to do with that?

i think this may be your problem. i used to be a grocery store manager many years ago and i remember we used to have problems like this all the time.

truth be known you probably brought them home with you from grocery store.it is mainly a problem with grocery stores that don't rotate their products the right way.

see if this may be it

Buster! I think that's it. That's what they look like and i have found them in dry flour like products like oatmeal, pudding mix, and pancake flour. They are super tiny.

The food are storied in a cool, dry, dark place but i do live in FL so i think the humidity helps them grow.

I'll throw away those products and clean out my cabinets and see how that works.

If not, I'll try some traps.

thanks for all the quick replies!!! This is why I love the RX. We can come here w/ any questions we might have.

FWIW Benny

My mother always put a bay leaf or a stick of Wrigley's Speamint gum in her flour, rice, cornmeal, oatmeat etc. canisters/containers to keep mites and weevils out. She swore by it. One of those country things I guess.

really?? Interesting. Why would gum keep them out? To me it seems like it would only attract them.

I'm willing to try anything.

Apparently the smell of both repels them. Gotta be Wrigley's Spearmint tho. I had the same problem in college once and tried it. Worked for me.
