I received three phone calls over the last week about winning 4 roundtrip tickets after filling out some contest forms. (I have no recollection of filling those forms out.) So after the third call I finally called them back and found out in order to receive the 4 roundtrip tickets you have to sit through a 90 mins presentation and bring two forms of identification with you. I'm suspicious that this could be some sort of scam or ponzi scheme, curious if any of you had experience with this sort of things. :icon_conf

Looks like one of these things where you'll be pressured to buy into a timeshare.

I worked with a guy whose parents suffer through these sales pitches every year so they can go on vacation for free.

Sounds like a huge hassle to me.

don't you have to ask yourself, what is in it for them (the company)? Maybe I am a tad too negatibve when it comes to stuff like this because I have never won anything for free!!

yes everytime you see these boxes set up at restaurants, sporting events etc. do not fill out these cards.it is just a way to get all your info and people sell these names for a dollar or so each to marketing companies and telemarketers.

same thing as signing up for some crap on the internet and getting spammed.

like the other guy said this is probably timeshare.

one of the biggest all time scams is the people that put out these drawings for a free 8x10 picture or whatever.YOU KNOW WHAT EVERYBODY WINS! they give them their picture and then sell them extra prints

Yeah I'm definitely suspicious but now I'm 100% sure it is a timeshare company. During my conversation with them over the phone they said they were calling in behalf of BlueGreen Corporation. So the presentation is probably persuading you to buy a piece of their resort. Thanks for the response everyone. I guess once again nothing is free in this world.

Just googled bluegreen and came up with this:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=j>Includes information on a vacation club, condo rentals and real estate for retirement and second homes.
www.bluegreenonline.com</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

its a time share......

i went to gatlinburg last year with wife and family......... my cousin and his family tagged along, or make that, we sort of tagged along........ either way, they went and had to listen to the time share thing........... they listened and decliced, not much pressure...... they wound up with free room and couple tickets for dinner and shows..............

wound up costing them about 3 hrs one afternoon......... it was worth that.......

i've been looking into doing a timeshare vacation for a while now. Overall, I think they're not that bad of an idea. You fly down there, they pay for your room, maybe a cruise, whatever else. All you have to do is sit in for a presentation one afternoon. Say no, then go on your way.

They markup on those timeshares is HUGE. They can make 20-50k off one sale, more than enough to pay for a month worth of free hotel rooms for potential buyers.

They could be a good thing for the company and the guest.

Whenever I get these calls saying I've won something free I just ask them to put it in the mail and hang up.
