Vegas would love it. They would be online in a day.

Even Microsoft has casino software written for that day.

Hey Sean, if they did regulate it, would they let the PINNYs of the world accept U.S customers, or would they shut it off to only U.S based companies?

One has to ask many questions of this government everyday.

Been doing so personally now for some 20+ odd years.

VERY FRUSTRATING TIMES FOR US CITIZENS in so many areas.

Sportsbetting in Vegas is almost a loss leader. They make there money from casinos and concerts these days. Several books have closed down in Veges because it was not worth the hassle. They would make much more money online with much less overhead and volume if it was regulated.

Yeah, but if they owned the online "casinos" they wouldn't be competition. Trust me, the land based casino companies now in Las Vegas would love it--all of the profit of gambling without the overhead of white tigers, big hotels and a huge staff of employees...

You think the internet poker craze hurt them? The WSOP grew from around 100 people to 6k+ in not a long time. Internet gambling isn't a substitute for Vegas gaming; they mutually benefit each other.

With that said, i don't know if I believe the conspiracy that Vegas is behind the online gaming ban. I really think a couple of phony religious guys want it gone. It's one thing if there is a multi-billionaire dollar conspiracy run by the mega-conglomerates to screw us over, but when a couple of guys can screw us over, that just sucks.

They will legalise and tax it one day, imo. For now, they're just scratching the backs of their campaign contributors by shutting down foreign competition. So that when they do legalise online gambling, Harrah's won't have to compete with Pinnacle. And the IRS will get their piece, too.

In the meantime, billions of dollars of investor wealth is wiped off the books overnight.

God bless America. And her American Dream.

Indeed.

You people who are against the Patriot Act are NOT thinking.

Did you forget 9/11?
Did you forget Saddam Hussein?

We have evil-doers who want to kill us. We must take the fight to them. If we fail in Iraq, we will lose our freedoms.

Support our troops. Support George Bush. Support TEXACO.

Vote Republican and save this country from the people who bombed Pearl Harbor.

With all due respect, it's not just Americans who are suffering for this.

They do tax it.

BoS was charged for failing to pay taxes on illegal wagers.

:ohno:

The IRS also has rules for individuals reporting income from stolen goods.

It was meant to be satirical - but I understand how you can think I was serious ...

... there are actually people who fall for this rhetoric, believe it and want someone else to go to war for it.

With the exception of race tracks, aren't most betting establishments on Indian land where the US government looks the other way due to Indian sovereignty? I could be wrong.

I am guessing that it's a morality issue with politicians. Politicians can't stop Indian gaming but they can stop gaming in their home state. The US is still very moralistic when it comes to gambling. People don't want "the bad element" to come into their neighborhoods with gambling so politicians don't vote gambling in their state.

Yes, im normally pretty good at separating sarcasim from fact, but I have seen many people say the exact same thing you just said, and meant every word.

Did not know your background on this issue.

elected officials are not concerned with solving problems. If they solve all the problems then they would be out of a job.

elected officials CREATE problems, thus insuring their jobs.

Gambling = Problem
Drugs = Problem
Taxes = Problem
Health Care = Problem
Polar Bears = Problem
