I hate pressing gamblers 'panic' buttons, because this is one high stressed group of people.

HOWEVER, if Neteller were to ever cease operations in the US..will more books start looking at debit cards more seriously as means of conveniance?

JM card went down, then CRIS....I'm not sure any more books even have a working one. This is understandable as Neteller ATM works fine and banks for the time being arn't TOO serious.

To eliminate banks entirely in the deposit/withdrawal department of books this seems to be a fantastic option.

I am not sure if I grasp your line of thinking here... I'm assuming that you first fund your debit card by either a pre-paid amount (like giving a gift card to someone) or something along those lines... that still seems to involve someone's bank, whether yours (how do you plan to fund the monies?) or the debit card issuer's bank?

Just wondering...

When CRIS card worked, you funded the card with the prepaid services WU form. This can be found at any WU location. There were also 5-6 other options of ways to fund it.

To withdrawal back on the card you simply called CRIS and it was on the card the same day.

No bank involved.

The card was issued by North York Community Credit Union -- a bank.

That you didn't need to deal directly with a bank is nice, but these third-party systems (CardOnePlus in this case) don't have a history of lasting very long.

I talked to Scotty at BetJamaica, and he says they are currently on the verge of introducing a debit card. I do hope this is the case, as BJ is far and away my favorite book to deal with. I am surprised that more books haven't found a way to succesfully utilize the cards to this point. Earlier this fall, BJ, CRIS and First Fidelity all introduced the cards, and all three sportsbooks eliminated them as quickly as they were issued. Hopefully they have ironed out the kinks......Considering the current state, it seems as though the debit cards can likely become the wave of the future.

First off that's a Credit Union, not a bank if we are going to split hairs. :103631605

Secondly, I obviously meant, that to use the card there were no ties to the Union and me, meaning I didn't actually have an account with North York Community Credit Union.

Someone mentioned that FirstPay card will still be available for withdrawals from sportsbooks, but no longer deposits. Can you verify?

Dear Mr. XXXXXXX XXXXX

Please be advised that following the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act of 2006 as part of the Port Authority Bill, First-Pay is no longer in a position to provide pay-in card services associated with any gaming transaction initiated in the United States.

Whilst the law stipulated a 270 grace period of compliance as a subsidiary of a Publicly Listed Company traded on Aim, First-Pay has been instructed by its legal and regulatory advisors that it must terminate any pay-in gaming services immediately as part of best practice compliance procedures adhered to by Public Companies.

The First-Pay product remains unchanged for all other services and transactions. This change does not affect any of the other conditions of use or services that are part of First Pay standard customer contract.

Card / Wallet transactions involving any other kind of legal e commerce transaction will continue to be honored as the card remains backed by Visa and can be used through out the world at Visa branded retail outlets. You will be able to use the First pay card as means of withdraw.

Debit cards aren't the long term answer unless they're not in US Dollars. If someone reputable starts offering ones that you can sign up remotely for in something other than US dollars, it sounds like a great idea.

So does this mean it would still be possible to withdraw from WSEX to a FirstPay card and then withdraw normally from there. A little confused. :ughhh:
