This is the third time of have made up this poll. The first 2 times I came out with this poll, the results were shocking and overly optimistic.

In march the results were. 142 to 13 yes 91%

In October the results were 92 to 16 yes 85%

With the latest changes, I think its the right time to retake the forum tempeture on this issue and see how much your opinions on this issue has changed.

People outside of the U.S, please dont vote in this poll. This is a question for people in the USA.

No offense intended.

so far, we remain at the 85/15 spread.

I thought this poll would be alittle closer.:ughhh:

i agree with the fellows, you need to make it more specific. You probably could bet but it's going to be mighty risky and difficult.

Perhaps another poll would be, "Will I bother with work-arounds necessary to deposit & place a wagers from my computer in the U.S. a year from now?"

There will always be ways to do it, but a large segment of the market may stop bothering to try.

How many people would be willing to:

a) Use SWIFT wire transfers
b) Wager at lesser known shops
c) Use a foreign postal mail forwarder
d) Open a foreign bank account
e) Use a web proxy or virtual host in a foreign country
f) Get a foreign VOIP telephone number

Honestly, just A+B will always work. It's not like they can start coding wire transfers (ever), nor maintain blacklists of hundreds (or thousands) or small sportsbook brands.

If someone else wants to start a different poll, feel free.

I thought I would have 3 different polls, at 3 different times with the same question, so we could have an accurate comparision between polls.

No, that's definitely the right thing to do, thanks for the effort.

This is the question I don't really want to know the answer to.

My take is that the Feds are doing enough dammage to prevent the "average joe" from wagering. For those of us motivated enough to wager betting life should go on in some fashion. At least for the short term it will not be as easy to move money around from book to book - back to the book to book transfer system? As to whether or not I'm wagering from my computer a few motnhs from now depends more on what books are still open. If the greek, wsex, and bodog are still open for business, I imagine I'll be playing. Assuming Neteller leaves the U.S. market soon, I will be inconvenienced but not shut out from depositing funds.

Will i Be able to place a bet

:smoking: I think i would really do my research, especially in regards to your agent. if your agent says, sorry closed down, can't get in touch. What recoarse do you have. I have a customer and friend who lost a large six figure sum when Caribi shut down. They were supposed to be an A1 shop , according to D/B

I don't think they have computers in prison cells. I'm done with off shore, my gamble is on the stock market. Made a hell of a lot more money there anyway.

So even though I answered your first poll I am now excluded. Seems you'll necesssarily get a different set of respondents.

I think the more important question is "How long until all the books are shut off to US Customers, the Feds regulate it, the Government takes 3%, Harrah's takes 2%, and our money and options are safer and more extensive than ever."

I say 3 years max.

That's exactly what will happen. Feds will regulate it. We'll have Harrah's & MGM duking it out as the 2 mammoth's. Feds will feel more in control of all the US money, and make billions in tax revenues from it.

I, for one, am looking forward to it. I would love to sit home, bet sports on an MGM sportsbook, all the while... earning points to get my stays comped everytime I want to stay at one of their properties!

Well this poll is a little closer than the last poll, but I am still surprised at the results.

Ok, here's why that won't happen.

The Feds cannot legalize gambling.

Wow, that was a short answer, but there's not really anything more to it.

The Feds cannot legalize gambling.

They can only permit interstate gambling legalized by the States. For example, interstate horse racing, can be done in a dozen or so states with their own enabling regulations and interstate agreements.

Utah wants gambling to be illegal in Utah, feds have no authority to say otherwise.

Any egaming business running inside the States will have to abide by that, and filter out residents of any state, county or city with a law against it. Therefore the bulk of the business will remain, as always, outside the U.S. Especially those requiring critical mass, like exchanges and poker rooms.

Maybe it will get better in 50 years with only a few holdouts (like Utah), but nothing looks likely on the horizon. Not with states like New York, Lousianna and Washington taking a hard line in the opposite direction.

Man - you blokes have it tough, not only to get a bet on but ensuring your funds are safe. Here in Oz there are legal betting shops everywhere, publically owned books regulated by the government (money safe) and can bet online without a problem, only issue is the government wont allow "live" betting over the internet once an event has started however you can ring up and put the bet on.

Do you guys have legal bookies in the states you can bet with?
