Canadian - Mail Boxes etc.....

Just brainstorming here, but it seems like someone that lives in Canada might be able to make a ton of money. Consider the following. Canadian Joe, I'll call him CJ, either gets an address for me at a Mail Boxes etc., thus giving me a Canadian address, and then I can open a bank account in Canada and then open a Pinny account, or some other book, and then everything will be back to the way it was. By the way, I moved to Texas many years ago and still have a bank account in New Jersey. I don't see much difference in the two.

OK, so CJ charges me like $100 a year for handling my mail, picking it up once a month and sending it to me here in Texas. Seems like a fair amount for his trouble. Now CJ does this for several people.....Seems like a good income for CJ....In fact, thinking of becoming CJ myself....

Two other things. First, this would be a good opportunity for people to expand on this type of idea. Second, at this point, is posting stuff like this really a good idea? Don't you believe that the Feds and other BS specialists are watching these posts?

Anyway, maybe I've started something......maybe not....look forward to replies...

You don't need a Canadian address to open a Canadian bank account. You just need to show up in person with proper ID.

See this thread for Canadian banks accepting Americans.

You dont even need to show up in person.

HSBC.ca will do it on line. YOu do have to provide passport number and valid credit card.

I've heard Citi.ca will too but have not checked.

HSBC also reports to the IRS.

Also, to open an account online you must be a Canadian resident and be able to deposit funds from another Canadian bank.

That is of little help to anyone here.

you would want an address however... and Mailboxes etc give regular type address, they are not PO boxes.

OK, a few other things....Wifey, better known as Mamabird, just opened a BetCRIS account and transferred money from Neteller. The transaction did go through.

Second, this is her idea and after reading some posts, she is suggesting that the only thing one should need is a Canadian address. We do not know if there is any reason that I can't use our HSBC credit card to send money overseas if we have a Canadian address....Shouldn't need a Canadian bank account????????

Each response has something to offer.....keep it going....

SportSavant, you are exactly correct.....That is why MB (mamabird) suggested using them, no PO Box....

Ace in the Hole, I agree that my big brother is watching....Question is where would we discuss this? By the way, not intended to piss you off in anyway.....I wish there was some other way to do this....

By the way, MB just tried to open an account at Canbet.....They are out! Said they were unable to accept wagers from US citizens...

Canbet dropped US customers some time back.

HSBC reports *interest income* to the IRS.

Open a non-interest-bearing account. Duh!

Yes. And at all times their customers' banking records are available to the IRS. Not so much worried about folks who are trying to circumvent taxes, as much as I'm pointing out that an HSBC account leaves you vulnerable, still, to US gov't scrutiny.

Having to deposit funds with a check from another canadian bank is the real kicker. So far seems to be no way around a trip to canada.

Canadian law requires that your address and identification be verifiable. So you either do it in person, or show that you have already done it in person with a cheque from another bank.

In Canada, your accounts are insured up to $60k by the gov't. I would guess that's why they require verification of your identity.

$tinky.....Convenience.....Online books open 24 hours....locals not....For what its worth, in 1989, all my local books cut me off. I won too much money. Pissed me off. I did not place another wager until 1999, when I discovered online gambling....I prefer not to go back to locals that are only open a couple of hours a day.....

Thanks,
eagle
