Guys I been gambling for almost 20 years and remember the days of just bookies. Than moved on to offshore and only could western union or send checks regular mail, than we moved into the times of today with online access and ease of transactions.

You know the one thing that has stayed the same. ITS ALWAYS BEEN ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!

Yeah im as down as everyone some if not all of this is going away but for the guys saying US is taking our freedoms away. Are you kidding? This has been an illegal activity and just because we all got away with it doesnt mean we are getting screwed.

Be happy with the time we got away with breaking the law and that hopefully none of us are going down for it.

Can you buy cocaine online legally, can you buy hookers online legally, can you send out a hit on someone through your computer legally,
explain the difference to me....

What he means is that there's no explicit law against placing a bet online (except in certain states). Some people (ie, the Federal Government) are of the opinion that current law already makes it illegal. Other people suggest otherwise. To date, the Federal government and, in most cases, the state governments where its illegal has not gone after individual players.

But the sad thing is it's likely easier now than placing a bet.

The act of placing a wager in say...Atlantic City or Las Vegas is legal...the act of placing a wager offshore is not...my point is what have you done differently from a moral standpoint...a financial standpoint or any standpoint for that matter...a bet is a bet is a bet...why do you think the USA goes after the book/money people and not the player...its simple...you making a wager have not done something that the government has found to be "completely illegal"...but the book/money person has...hopefully you see the difference...and its a huge difference...

My 2 cents.....It is true that it isn't illegal to place a wager. In fact, in every state, betting is legal as long as one of two things doesn't happen. 1) The house takes a cut, or 2) Odds are given. This is why one govenor can bet a govenor of another state on the outcome of a football game.

A while back (2000) a home was sold to a supervisor at the IRS. A question was asked about Internet gambling. The response was there was nothing on the books for the next 6 years to try and stop it. I guess that time limit has expired.

Gambling, NO, sports gambling has been illegal in all but one state, Nevada.

Hate to say it again sir but pot is legal for some reasons, so is steroids, so is prostiution, so is driving 70, so driving ages, etc. Long story short is everywhere you live in the US can be different laws.

Let me ask you for all you guys saying its legal to make bet just not take bet. Lets say you are at a bar with two FBI next to you would you call Pinny to lay a Grand on the Bears this weekend. Why or why not?

Timetopay.....Been there, just not with FBI.....Years ago, and I still have the newspaper article on this, I placed a wager over the phone that was being recorded, not to capture me, remember, I was the one placing the bet. The cops were doing it to document the person taking the bet. The bookies lost about $750,000. I just made a phone call. I lost nothing. In fact, no one ever contacted me, yet I can guarantee you they knew who I was.
