I cant believe the BRAVES would trade a cheap young first baseman that hits 30 hrs and drives in 100, and plays good defense for the crap they got in return

TIMEWARNER cant sell this team fast enough.

As long as their young pitchers develop a little more......they still need 1 solid veteran starter.

i cant believe they didnt non-tender him... im a season ticket holder and ive suffered through 7 of them so far... its such ashame to go to a park like that to see a team like that... but i truely believe they will be above .500 if they can avoid injuries...

Still can't believe they didn't sign Suppan. I know they don't have money to compete with Yanks and Red Sox but getting outbid by Milwaukee?!
Just cheapass ownership that got tax-payer financed ball park(best in majors by the way) and is just pocketing the luxury tax money and every thing else they can and putting nothing back.:youmad:

while i agree what your saying, u have to keep in mind suppan who is a career .500 pitcher signed for 40 million... i dont blame them for not shelling out that kind of money for a .500 pitcher... better spent next year if they so choose which is unlikely...

Long suffering Bucs fan myself. Wasn't terribly excited about the deal until I looked at LaRoach's numbers. Top 10 in the NL in OBPS last year - not too shabby. PNC is taylor made for a power hitting lefty. Hate to give up Gonzalez - lefty relievers that throw in the high 90's and throws strikes are hard to come by. Braves also got a pretty highly touted minor league SS from the Bucs. Former 2nd round pick that had an OBP over .400 to go along with his 55 stolen bases in A ball last year.

Bucs had a very strong second half last year. They finally could have a legit major league lineup - the big question mark will be all of the young pitching. A .500 season for once would be a nice start. We Bucs fans can't stomach any more losing

pkj, dont forget gonzalez has an elbow issue... i just hope he passes his physical... they have plenty of decent arms in the bullpen... also, just an fyi the prospect the braves got is 23 and was only in A ball last year so i dont really think this guy will be that good if he even makes it to the majors... they still have grabow and marte as lefties in the pen

TSN issue this week has Pirates as best bull pen in NL(doesn't include Gonzolez leaving though). Don't know if I agree or maybe NL bull pens are that bad!

Wonder who they will have closing - Capps? Torres? Torres is so valuable because he can pitch nearly everyday and is effective.
