What occupation/hobby is most similar to betting sports?

Now that this is being put on the back burner for a little while, I am trying to find something else to occupy my time. I have never been much of a gambler. I don't enjoy the casino or anything of the sort. I like to think whatever I put my money on I have a small edge (if I do is another story).

Just curious what others feel is a similar avenue to pursue. Not saying that I am completley giving up on betting but when you go from 12+ books to 3 then it is obviously a lesser degree.

Always interested in learning about other things and some that are along the same lines of this.

I think a no-brainer answer that comes to mind, is the stock market. Perfect example of legalized gambling.

If you like the action of placing several bets throughout the day, then you can become a day-trader and buy & sell stocks/funds all day long.

Day trading would be your closest option to gambling. However, to get your same "edge", you better be as well versed in the financial world as you are in the art of gambling.

at least betting on sports is fun though. imagine sitting at your computer all day watching how ethanol is doing. that is why were here on this forum instead of stock market forums
