WWE.com has learned that former WWE Superstar Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow has passed away in Florida.
Kevin Doll, the Public Information Director for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Bigelow was found dead early this morning in his home in Hudson, Fla.
"We can confirm that Scott Bigelow was found in his home this morning. At this time the cause of death is unknown," Doll told WWE.com.
Doll also confirmed that the Pasco-Pinellas Counties medical examiner has taken the body and an autopsy will be performed.
Bigelow, 45, worked for WWE, ECW and WCW extensively throughout his 20-year sports-entertainment career. A former ECW Champion, ECW Television Champion and WCW Tag Team Champion, he is perhaps best known for his rivalry with Lawrence Taylor that culminated in the main event of WrestleMania XI in 1995.

apparently the police are treating it as a crime scene. Reportedly Bam Bam might have owed some money to the wrong people

Wouldn't be the first time for that either....Dino Bravo was murdered at around the same age, several years ago....What is the average age of a pro wrestler, gotta be in the 50's.

I wonder what the average lifespan of a pro wrestler is? 55 maybe?
Some of the ones that come to mind for me: Crash Holly, Davey Boy Smith, Rick Rude, Eddies Guerrero, Brian Pillman, Owen Hart (accident), Curth Henning even Miss Elizabeth ...All had to be under 45.
Shocking....

Damn Man it seems like every other month a popular wrestler dies. Greetings from Asbury Park. I'll never forget that match he had with Taz and both of them disappeared through the canvas.

oh well when will people learn.note the last sentence

In July 2000, it was said that Bigelow alledgedly received second degree burns over 40% of his body (and was hospitalized for two weeks as a result) while rescuing children from a forest fire. This proved to be false by Bigelow in an interview, as it was a kayfabe story to allow Bigelow to take time off from WCW. it is now known that kevin Atkins is bam bam bigelows nephew. that has been recently found out. kevin is trying to pursue some of the same things that bam bam has done. but kevin does not want to become a wrestler he wants to become a promoter. it's also known that kevin is starting his own federation called extreme judo wrestling.
Upon his retirement, Bigelow moved to Allenhurst, Pennsylvania and opened the eponymous Bam Bam Bigelow restaurant, located in nearby Hamlin Township along State Route 590, which later closed down. He then relocated to Florida, with even his close friend Shane Douglas unaware of his whereabouts.
On October 2, 2005, Bigelow was hospitalised with a broken nose and several lacerations after crashing his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in Spring Hill, Florida. His passenger at the time, Janis Remiesiewicz (Bigelow's girlfriend), suffered severe injuries and was declared to be in "critical" condition. Larry Coggins, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, stated that Bigelow would be the focus of a homicide investigation should Remiesiewicz expire, and intimated that Bigelow would likely face charges based on "the factors...that led to this crash". Remiesiewicz eventually made a complete recovery, and is still in a relationship with Bigelow.
For much of his career, Bigelow was addicted to the drug Oxycodone.

A look at Bam Bam Bigelow

By Lennie DiFino
Written: January 19, 2007

Scott Charles Bigelow passed away this morning in Florida. He was 45 years old.

"Bam Bam" Bigelow wrestled in WWE, WCW and ECW throughout his 20-year-career in sports entertainment, and was a multi-time champion - having won the ECW World Championship, ECW World Television Championship, WCW Hardcore Championship and the WCW World Tag Team Championship.

"Bam Bam" will always be remembered by WWE fans for his wrestling attire, which matched the flames that were tattooed on his skull.

Bigelow was listed at just shy of 400 pounds, but was considered to be one of the most agile Superstars of his time. His signature flying headbutt was a devastating maneuver, which always signaled the end for his opponents. His imposing presence and ring skills made him a tough match for any Superstar.

Bigelow was a veteran of three WrestleMania events, including the WrestleMania XI match with N.F.L. superstar Lawrence Taylor. He also participated as a member of Hulk Hogan’s team at the inaugural Survivor Series in 1987, eliminating One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy before being pinned by Andre the Giant.

In ECW, Bigelow would be most remembered for his ECW Television Title Match with Tazz at ECW Living Dangerously in 1998, in which both competitors fell through the ring. Bigelow picked up the victory, much to the delight of his home crowd in Asbury Park, N.J.

He also won the ECW World Title by defeating Shane Douglas in 1997 from Queens, N.Y. The ECW crowd reactions were some of the most thunderous in ECW history, making Bigelow an ECW icon.

"Bam Bam" created another memorable ECW sight when he lifted Spike Dudley above his head, then threw him from the ring, into the fourth row at the ECW Arena.

Bigelow then moved on to WCW, where he would have a rivalry with Goldberg over the World Heavyweight Championship. Later forming a tag team with fellow Jersey shore friend Diamond Dallas Page, they captured the WCW World Tag Team Championship on one occasion.

After WWE purchased WCW in 2001, Bigelow spent some time wrestling independently, before retiring from the squared circle in 2004.
