The first is fading a team or star player that has the "flu." How many times has this breaking news been utterly meaningless. In fact, it seems that teams and star players (Michael Jordan) seem to play better and more focused when they supposedly have the "flu."

The second falicy is playing on a team that just had a "players only, closed door team meeting" to "clear the air." How many times have gamblers beens suckered into thinking that somehow makes a difference and a team will respond by playing better with more focus? Completely meaningless, in my experience. Very rarely, if ever, do teams respond by playing better after such a meeting, even though the line is sometimes adjusted on perception that team problems are "fixed" after such a meeting.

YEs, short term the sick or injured factor can be and is often overrated. Long term might be different.

Team meetings can or cannot be helpful but certainly would not wager money bases upon a team meeting. I would not factor it in at all.

usually if it is well known news, then just fading good news and playing on bad news is what I do.

I agree. How many times do they say a player has the flu and he comes out and plays the game of his life.
