No question in my mind (tho I know some here vigourously disagree) that NFL has engaged in corrupt officiating to help a great storyline team into the Super Bowl. They 've been up to these games for about a decade, and it culminated last playoff season when the officiating stunk so badly it caused a great outcry, including from Seattle's Mike Holmgren.

First, the Colts got some officiating largess, but couldn't take advantage of it. Then, NFL's second choice, Pittsburgh (wonderful story of The Bus's last game, and a cap of Cowher's career) got some clear and stinky bennies from the striped shirts in the Super.

But --- ALTHO THE SAINTS HAD THE BEST STORYLINE OF ANY TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS, THE GAME WAS CALLED HONESTLY AND EFFICIENTLY.

It doesn't completely surprise me, as NFL knows people are watching, in view of the foul aroumas rising from the field of play last postseason.

But, before we congratulate them on taking the cure, let's see if they stick to the straight and narrow in the Colts/Pats game. They'd love Indy in the Big Game, everyone, females esp, love Peyton. And Tony has a year old tragedy that still can be exploited by flacks.

Hopefully they will continue to resist the impulse to cheat and let the players decide the game.

GREAT POINT! I was just commenting to someone that is sure is refreshing to have the refs (and league) not have decided this game

keep up the good work SD. Now that the NFL knows you have your eye on them, I expect they will keep things more on the low down.

"In the end, all anyone will remember is who won the game"

Simply one of the most untrue cliches EVER.

Bush wants the Patriots to win the Superbowl because he wants more pro-american sentiment and more pro-patriot act feelings.

Yeah right. The NFL helped Steelers beat the #1,#2 and #3 seeds on the road to get them to the Super Bowl?! The Steelers were the best team LY.
You fu..ed up on them last year and bet against them. Get over it. Bunch of goddamned whiners. They call penalties on those who commit them. They are human and miss some. Bunch off pussies who can't accept making a losing bet. Shouldn't be gambling.
