Saints had a chance to take the lead and they put Billy Cundiff in to try the 47 yd FG. John Carney is one of the best kickers in league history and deserved a shot at that kick.

announcers said during the game Carney wasn't making anything outside 45, and Cundiff was nailing them from 50....they should have punted, Carney is ancient, that is like a 55-60 yarder with the weather.

They should have ran the ball and got in field goal range, a field goal puts them in the lead. Notice Bellichick setting up his kicker in late game on 3rd and long.

Turning point was Maynard's punt and the following safety. Maynard had a great game actually.

I disagree. After the missed FG, they got another stop and forced a Bears' punt.

The intentional grounding penalty for a safety, then subsequent TD on Chicago's next drive (a drive they only got because of the safety), were more crucial than a long FG attempt that they probably didn't expect to make anyway.
