Sweet...he'll be dining out on that story for a while...lol.
I've gone on shark dives before and had 9 foot bull sharks swimming with 10 feet. They weren't in feeding mode though, and they were awesome and beautiful. In feeding mode, you'll want to get the hell out of the water, from what I'm told.
